Finally someone with some scientific background evaluating inks... to the point, no fluff, no BS, no touchy feely, objective with a methodology for evaluation. Thumbs up 👍, thank you!

Picked up a bottle for myself and bottles for my two office mates after watching this video. Just arrived. I love Noodler’s Heart of Darkness, but I thought this was an interesting ink because of the purple. Thanks for the “some of my favorites” playlist. I’ve seen many of them already, but I want to watch/ rewatch all of the reviews knowing they are some of your favorites. Thanks, Adam. 👊🏼.

Hope you enjoy it! A black with another color, like the purple, can usually appear much darker. Just how our eyes work.

Diamine Onyx is my go-to black, it is very dark and solid and sometimes has a graphite grey sheen when on Good paper and with a wet pen. It does however seem to take a little long to dry in comparison to my other inks but it is a very thick black so if you can take care not to smudge it it is perfect for writing or drawing. My previous standard 'black' ink was Parker's Quink Black, which is in fact a dark grey and not a true black and actually showed only cyan and yellow in my chromatography.

There are a bunch of great black inks out there, Diamine's Onyx is a really good one, it is always a matter of choosing one with that little something that catches your eye. I know an ink is good when it gets people to switch from a previous choice to them, like you switching from Parker.

@@AnInkGuy which one is your favorite black?

@@humanfirst11 Personally, and for nerdy reasons, I love using Noodler's Dark Matter. But that is because I am a maths nerd.

I agree with what 735 says below, and there are so few channels that give you information and facts in the first minute. I think some of the reason is the YT algorithm that others try to game. I find myself coming back here for answers to pen, ink, and paper questions I want answered.

Perhaps, but also sometimes creators know that this will never be a 'thing' beyond a hobby. So do what your vision for the video is algorithm be dammed.

Very nice presentation. You are well spoken and precise. (I like orange and black, too. It reminds me of Autumn and Halloween.

I have the ink and it is the driest ink I've ever had and the pens I've used it with dried up over night completely. So, I was very surprised that you said it were a slightly wet ink.
@AnInkGuy7 ай бұрын
Saying it is slightly wet simply refers to the result in the viscosity test, nothing to do with the performance "in" the pen.

Very interesting and purple-black is a favorite combo of mine. Might get a sample even though I just got a full bottle of Dark Matter and a couple other "black" samples.
@AnInkGuy5 жыл бұрын
Dark Matter is my favorite black ink, but that is because I'm a math nerd....... That aside I do find that purple-blacks look a bit darker and deeper than most other blacks, in the writing. I just don't know if I could ever steal anyone away from Dark Matter. I love it so much. The fact than someone else bought a bottle just makes me happy, so thank you for saying that.

@@AnInkGuy You're welcome. I like the theme of it as well; especially since I do a lot of creative writing and dedicate specific inks and pens to particular projects. The idea behind Dark Matter fits well with one of my projects (an espionage series). I feel that little dedication helps me focus. At the very least, it's fun. After I saw your review I was going to get a sample, but saw some other writing samples and and decided why bother, I would just get a bottle.
@AnInkGuy5 жыл бұрын
@@shadowmihaiu as long as I can help feed the habit,l lol. I do a lot of my person, not ink, research with it. Just makes me smile which is good enough for me. On dark matter, I am a juli bottle offender.

Does anyone else use Diamine Onyx with a Pelikan M800 and if so, is your ink susceptible to hard starting occasionally when you've left the nib exposed for more than 10 seconds?
@AnInkGuy4 жыл бұрын
I haven't had an issue with it. Just because it is a Pelikan, if you have a broad nib they are prone to babies bottom from over polishing from the factory.
@CarolusR3x4 жыл бұрын
@@AnInkGuy would the same be expected from a fine nib?
@AnInkGuy4 жыл бұрын
I haven't heard of any issues of babies bottom on their fine nibs.... Maybe try a tiny, very tiny, bit id dish detergent with the ink. Thant can improve the flow if you are having issues. I haven't heard of these types of issues with Diamine inks before but it is certainly possible.
