Just a great review - I was looking for a dark red, fast-drying, easy to clean ink and landed on this one - your review covered everything and this will be my first red ink, as I just don't use the color for work but just wanted to use it for journaling (fast dry) in a black pen with a nice medium Sailor nib. The name really closes the deal.

Well Diamine is a solid brand and I doubt you could go wring with any of their inks.... but this is a good one, and the cool name does help it out. Enjoy it.

Great review. I’ve been using Diamine Oxblood which is great; however, this Red Dragon looks to be a slightly brighter red. I’ll have to pick up a sample and try it. I agree the color is just fantastic. Thanks for sharing this one.

This is the first red bottled ink that I've tried, and I love it. I have it in a Pilot Kakuno with a medium nib, and it looks gorgeous on every type of paper I've tried it on, most of them cheap. It's very rich-looking and at times almost appears to be a burgundy color. Good choice on Krishna Thulsi as a complementary color. This is the first Ink Guy review I've come across without the extended notes section, and I kind of missed it! Wonderful job, Adam. Well, I have to go now ... "I'm having an old friend for dinner." (grin)

I chose Red Dragon for my red ink (at least for now 😁) because of nostalgia, originally. Reminded me of the red of the BIC pens my teachers used grading. Surprisingly, I didn't try to duplicate the other colours they used... It's THE quintessential red ink for me. Thanks for sharing this!

@@AnInkGuy My school, green was their initials and such. They usually carried an official "teacher only" (students couldn't have them in school) BIC 4 colour pen, and I really don't remember black and blue ever being used by them. Black and blue were okay for students, so... I opted for different, when I found an old grey Esterbrook J in a barn. Only student to use blue-black ink. 😁

Hi, Adam. Thank you for the excellent review. I really like your commentary on paper. It’s one of the reasons I like your reviews. Two questions. What happens at 15 seconds? Can’t figure out what you’re talking about??? Also, I really like the nostalgic way the review ends. Very classy. There at the very end, you say you like the name of the ink, and then you say something I can’t make out, right at the 11:00 minute mark. What is it you say? Thanks. Great review.
@AnInkGuy5 жыл бұрын
At 15 sec, I am making a reverence to the "Red Dragon" from the movie "Silence of the lambs" the quote is "It puts the lotion on its skin or it gets the hose again." Movie reverence to a killer that was known as Buffalo Bill and in his stalking of the victims leaves a symbol of the Red Dragon. At 11 min min I said "2 Bam" it's a mahjong term. mahjong in a game my mother used to play when I was young, it has a piece in the game called the "Red Dragon" which is also connected to the red dragon reference I made earlier. Mahjong is an old Chineese tile game. I don't know how common mahjong is, and wasn't sure if many people were going to get that reference.

Adam, something's not right with your viscosity report on Red Dragon. You show that it's an extremely wet ink with a viscosity of 1.48, but that's not consistent with the writing samples. Also in the comments someone asked you about other inks with similar viscosities and the ones you mentioned have normal viscosities. Also your mother played mahjong LOL. Are you by any chance a tribe member?
@AnInkGuy4 жыл бұрын
I am not a tribe member... but my family has our roots from tribes. I may have made a mistake in which graphic I put in. As a general rule the viscosity I say will be correct for my test. I sometimes in editing drag the wrong graphic in. One day I will do another video on Viscosity explaining what I have now learned about that in relation to how an ink flows with the pen because the viscosity number doesn't seem to always match the experience. I believe there is more to the viscosity than just the number. I have over 1000 inks tested for viscosity and after I do all those ink reviews I am considering stopping that test for reasons I would explain then.
