Hi everyone, Thank you for sharing Lindsay! We posted this on another unboxing video, but we think you might want to hear it from us here as well! Firstly, we're glad to see that most of you love the upgrades! We've been working on them for a while, and we've made a few changes that you'll start to notice by the end of next month (though not all new changes might be visible at once). - We re-added free heart-shaped pink wax so that you can continue to use it with the multiplacers if that's what you prefer. Initially, we removed it because although it works with the refillable pen, it's a little harder to maneuver and putty is better suited for that. But we're going to give you the option for both now. - We made the putty inside the pens 15% to 20% harder, but kits shipping this month will still have the old formula. Putty hardness varies with the weather, and during our original testing in the winter, it was colder. By the time summer arrived, it became softer than we wanted, so we've already made an update. That said, the current one is still easy to use-just trim any extra putty sticking out of the pen and enjoy, it lasts forever! - The new pen was inspired by feedback from many customers who were paying $7 for a premium refillable craft pen. We’ve used a similar concept but improved it, making the grip/pen more ergonomic and the plastic tip thinner so you can more easily see the diamonds when placing them. Plus, we’re including it for free! - In our next update, we're removing the hard divider to reduce waste. However, everything will still be laid out exactly the same. - By removing the tray, we've managed to shrink the box size to match our old box size, making it more economical to ship and saving space in your closets. - We'll be offering refillable thin stainless steel tips that you can use with the new pens. - We've removed tweezers and washi tape to reduce waste. However, we'll be offering affordable angled pink tweezers, along with a 3-pack that includes ceramic tweezers, angled tweezers, and regular ones. While washi tape isn't necessary with our perforated covers, we understand many like to use it for the border. So, we'll be offering an affordable 40-pack of random patterns you can enjoy. These will be of higher quality than the ones we used to include for free. - The new perforated cover will be thicker than the current cover, which is already thicker than other brands, and will also have visible dotted lines so you can cut your sections clearly. We heard feedback that while the current perforations are great, they sometimes don't tear evenly because the perforations are hard to see, leading to incorrect pulling. -Last but not least... the collectible aspect. We know some are bummed about not receiving the cover minders, but we PROMISE that the new items we’re including will make you much happier because you’ll actually be able to use them... and maybe... just maybe get free stuff? We're also thinking about offering cover minders packs separately if you really want us to. We'd make them random, similar to the washi tape we discussed above. We removed them from the new kits because we felt they were wasteful and redundant, and we kept receiving complaints about the magnets falling off, so we felt it would probably be better to just get rid of them. Overall, we're super grateful and happy for the positive reception, especially as we've worked on these upgrades for the past 16 months. There's a lot more to come in terms of additional product upgrades and new products. Thank you for your support!

I just want to say I love the perforated cover and completely stopped using release papers because of it! But the cover minders are not obsolete! I leave one side of perforation attached so if I’m not finished with a square I can pop it back over the sticky. When I’m working I use a cover minder to keep back the square of perforated plastic. :) but I’m very excited for the new surprise!

mm ..I'm not convinced by the new tool kit, the best change was the tray, the rest makes no sense to me, now it won't be the same to open the tool kit and find the surprise like a cover and the washi tape, which what gave me the most excitement was how to open a surprise kindergarten

I'm sad about losing the washi and coverminder because those were my favorite items in the kits. However the new trays look great and I applaud DAC's efforts to reduce waste. Thanks for another great video, Lindsay your enthusiasm is contagious and you crack me up every time you mention the particles 😆

I think they might sell random cover under packages and washi tape separate. I’m actually cool with this idea just because the cost of the trays and pen already cost much more to produce and we have a good tray and pen and can pick the washi we would personally like to go with the painting. Also remember DAC is rolling out a new collectible that will be in the kit that is forthcoming! 😊

I was glad to read the pinned update and see they already addressed many "complaints" (there's always one in the crowd). It would be nice to see the pen in different colors and I never did use the minders. Glad they already addressed the packaging concerns.

It’s been a long time since I’ve done any diamond painting so I enjoyed seeing what’s new. I’m nervous about the new pen. I’ve tried a lot of different putties and waxes in the past and I always go back to the basic pink wax. This diamond painting is so cute though, I’ll have to add it to my wish list.

Such an exciting unboxing! The pen and tray are amazing! Them having gotten rid of the cover minder & washi; and reinvest the costs of those towards the upgraded toolkit is such a wonderful thing; dare I say they might even have invested more into developing this toolkit! I wonder if the bigger boxes mean bigger kits will come in the near future 👀 I dunno how DAC does it but they really are a for-the-crafters company; so many innovations and improvements throughout the years ❤

I thought the new kit was nice. I like the putty and look forward to trying the pen on the special key chains and pictures I work on. Wish we still had the small sticker but I’ll just copy the new one. I have tons of tweezers and don’t need more. I really like the new tray. Question: did I see a small picture label on the bottom of the box? Thank you for sharing and very cute kit. Love the colors. Peace and love abide with you 💕

Yes there is a small picture on the bottom of the box! The whole box has the picture of the canvas all over so they will be easy to spot too! 😃

@@rebeccajoseph8450 I have worked on several paintings with it and it does rip pretty easy! You do need to be careful and not rip it too hard, but it’s worked really well for me!

You just push them in, they are just the usual plastic 4 and 7 placer that came in kits before so will place similar to that 👍🏻

Had wanted this kit but all the black is making me doubt buy in it. For some reason I have a hard time with black. Also I hope the perforation is better. The one I currently have is crooked so you have cut lines cutting the symbol in half and not straight. There is a lot of errors in mine like some are cut not all the way down and a small gap between the lines. Like they realized it was lined up wrong and instead of redoing they just left the error and recut above it. It tears so easily that it makes it hard to pick up. Overall not impressed with this.

Oh no, I do know they are rising the perforated covers! I have found I just cut mine to the size I want and the perforated edges don’t really rip or cause any issues with that.

To be honest I m not happy with the new toolkit. Although I tried it several times I hate putty and wont use it. So the pen is useless for me. The tray looks good but the old ones were good enough and better trays e.g. via etsy have more personalization option. The baggies are always waste for me. So I just would try the tray and will throw away the rest.... Really sad for no cover minder and washi tape. That was the exciting surprise of the kit and I need cover minder for holding (I often have to cover undone sections) and the Washi tape is my frame. The perforation is not usable for me because I like different sizes and it never fits perfect the drill borders.... I love the kits and quality of DAC but in my case the changes are not helpful for the process.

Did you see that DAC has added the pink wax back the kit so you don’t have to worry about not getting wax or forced to use putty. I’m curious once you use the actual new tray how you will feel. I have been working with it and impressed it’s very high quality and I’m excited for new Diamond Painters to get a quality tray with their kit instead of the small unusable ones in my opinion.

@@EmeraldsandFairyLights pink wax wont make the pen more useful. The tray will be great but the only good thing of the new tool kit. Unfortunately other good things are no longer inside. Dont know why e.g. the baggies still have to be inside instead of tweezers or washi tape, if the goal is to reduce waste.... In my case I would say stop adding a toolkit and make useful things like the pen, tray or any drill storage system as extra option to the order.

Budget kits from China have a better tool kit. What a dud. Pretty soon we will all have a drawerful of those cheap pens rolling around in them. All that hype for 6 months to see that DAC went cheap and stingy. Ugh, what a letdown.

@@EmeraldsandFairyLights 😜 I loved the washi and cover minder and I have so many of those ‘picker upper’ pens from Stampin Up. All junk. I will miss the large sticker and the larger sticker sheet. My wax was NEVER dried out. Oh well. Everything crafty that we love gets cheapened eventually. It was a good run.
