T-Hangers are very rare here in the EU. We have Hangers with a giant disc in the center that can rotate and can park high- and low-wing aircraft alternately. It saves a lot of space! The drawback is that we dont get a personal space i guess

The comment about debating engineering with someone with that accent was hilarious. Diesels usually don’t get overhauled so it’s TBR. They can maybe salvage the case if I remember correctly. The wing length is a real mystery - shorter wings go faster but probably have a big impact on stall speed and handling characteristics.

Im in the UK and have yet to see a T hangar. I have deliberated as to why this is and some might say that its because there are fewer planes, rarely have extreme weather, less space, horizontal drizzle blah blah. However, my belief is that as a nation that we take enormous pleasure in moaning about everything, thus having the opportunity to move 5-6 aircraft of varying weights and sizes to get your trusty flying machine from the back, then shoe horn it back in at the end of the day, gives us the perfect opportunity to moan. Glorious.

I'd rather be under a parachute canopy at basically zero forward airspeed than to try to keep it in a stall and hit the ground (or trees) at 58 knots (~67mph). It's even more when you take the vertical speed component into account. No thanks.

That's extremely unlikely, @@MickeLang, Diamond Employee. (Be careful not to let your bias cloud your judgement!) Out of the recorded SR22 parachute events, how many have drifted into power lines while under canopy? It's about assessing the likelihood of risks and having the right tools and strategies to minimize their impact. On this side of the pond we usually have big ass Hangars and therefore you don't get to have your own man cave (or woman cave, but we shouldn't say that). So you cram all the airplanes together on the same floor, make sure they're not smashing each others navlights and then you shut the door. If the Hangar is high enough, you may also hang your expensive aircraft from the ceiling, almost doubling available space. So you see, depending on what is stored there already, a DA50 might not be a big deal to put in. But yeah, I'd also prefer a T-Hangar, thanks.

E.g I was surprised to learn that in USA "flight following" is just "flight following" while here we've got a complicated version of it. If you know you know 😂. Then you guys have better access to AVGAS, cheaper landing fees, many mechanics, cheaper airplane parts and friendly ATC who sometime mess around. It's the first time I saw your channel. I love your comments....very funny. But honestly, the DA50 RG is in any aspect the better plane (if you can afford it). Security rates are much higher compared to the Cirrus. So you don't need a ballistic Parachute. By the way, this gives you a wrong feeling of security. And in fact, it's weird if a company sells a plane together with a parachute! So they don't trust their own products?? The only disadvantage of the DA50 RG is the range. For that price, you should expect the same range as the DA40 NG. The wing is so huge, it should carry 20-25 gal more fuel than the DA40 NG. In fact, it carries only 11 gal more fuel. And last but not least the ridiculous MTOM of 1999 kg. With this engine, they cold boost the MTOM to about 2200 kgs at least. Hope they will work on the next generation of DA50's with some improvements.
@CompleteWalkaroundАй бұрын
Ok I'm curious, In what way are DA50 'security rates' better than SR22. The 2 primary differences between these planes, imo, each favor the cirrus. Please indulge me. Thanks for watching

@@CompleteWalkaround Engine Inflight Shut Down rates are about 30% less if compared to the Sr22's. Probably the reasons are liquid cooled versus air cooled and the more failsafe design of the Single Lever Operation of the Austro Engine.
@CompleteWalkaroundАй бұрын
@@340Captain Thanks for replying and watching my videos. A few things about this one. DA50 doesn't have an Austro Engine, it has a Continental. Overall the Continental diesel engines have good track records for in-flight shut downs, but the smallest have the best record and they get worse as you get bigger. CD300 is by far the largest and newest with the least time. So the jury is still out on it's safety record IMO. The DA50's Continental CD300 and the SR22's Continental IO-550 are both air cooled. CD300 has a reduction gearbox, IO550 does not. Single lever power in CD300 is nice. SR22 does have 2 (no propeller, but does have mixture). For the parachute, I'm happy flying a plane without one but the fact of the matter is they do work. No matter how wonderful a plane is spatial disorientation happens sometimes. Thanks again for watching.
@340CaptainАй бұрын
@@CompleteWalkaround Yes, you’re right. It is a Continental Engine not an Austro engine. But it is definitely liquid cooled with twin turbochargers and like the Austro ones FADEC controlled with 2 channels. It is comparatively new and yes it has to prove the reliability in comparison to the Austro engines. But definitely better than the “stone aged” air cooled engines. Despite of this and the good looking, I don’t think that the DA50 won’t become a huge success as long as you don’t get a better range and a higher MTOM when paying 1.4 million bucks.

Why are so many people fan of diesel engines in aircraft? their reduced fuel consumption doesn’t compensate their acquisition and maintenance costs, the continental ones can’t be overhauled, they’re heavier and less powerfull than their avgas counterparts, and there are far fewer mechanics who can service them. about the only benefit as far as I can see is the fact jet A is more widely available. (For reference, I’m a European (Belgium)). I would never voluntarily buy a Diesel. As long as it’s available, AVGAS is king! 👑 So can anyone who’s well informed plz tell me why diamond is building diesels, and why some people would prefer to buy those instead of a good old Lycoming, Conti, etc?
@FamilyManMoving Жыл бұрын
"As long as it's available..." You answered your own question. I a world where gubbermint authorities like to regulate every detail, and ban every thing, many of us assume that "they" will come for AVGAS with or without lead, simply because Jet-A is more "efficient". If that sounds crazy, try talking to California about gas engines in cars. Logic does not apply when it comes to politicians.
@kristus20 Жыл бұрын
@@FamilyManMoving It’s not ever going to happen, they have been working on unleaded fuel, sure, they might ban the sale of 100LL yeah sure, but only if and when a drop in certified replacement is available in similar quantities as 100LL is now. There are to many planes out there, and they surely are not gonna ground the far out majority of all GA planes in the world. As for more efficient: Jet A actually has a lower energy density than AVGAS although it contains more energy for a given volume because it’s denser, but that also makes it heavier. The diesel engines are supposed to be more efficient and yes in terms of fuel consumption they are, but there is cost, a diesel has a lower power to weight ratio. For the same weight, an AVGAS burning engine is more powerful, equally true: for the same power, an AVGAS burning engine is a lot lighter.

I think it because it can't fit inside a standard T hangar (which usually can only fit a maximum of 40ft of wingspan) so a bigger more expensive hangar is needed. A T hangar usually cost $300 to $500 here, more if you choose air conditioned one.
@CompleteWalkaround Жыл бұрын
Yes, once you get out of t-hangars (in north America) you get into big boy hangars and the cost is extravagant and varies widely. 20k is annually and an average from a very wide array. This video explains where my numbers come from kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3e4datqnLWmhKM
@Vanya801512 ай бұрын
It's probably less than that. I would say a shared hangar space for this airplane in mid-priced areas is around $1k per month. My 40-foot t-hangar is $700 per month, and that is on a hight end. It just really depends on how lucky you get and where you are.

I couldn’t imagine someone giving up the safety of having two engine, and decide to go for a da50. After all the purchase price is almost identical and da62 carry more and fly faster… Also AE330 is a proven engine at this point why risk your money on a CD300?
@YaroslavNechaev Жыл бұрын
I think it was originally supposed to be way cheaper but then inflation, shortages and huge demand on everything induced by near 0% loan rates skyrocketed the price. I think we should just let Diamond to churn through the wealthy buyers first and allow them to adjust the price for realistic market conditions. Maybe they'll also come up with some more powerful AE engine for it as well.

@@YaroslavNechaev if the price is set half way between da40 and da42, it would be more reasonable. For the same price as da62 it is just a big no no. Unlike the AE300 which burns siginificantly less gas than IO360, the extra complexity of the cd300 didn't bring enough benefit to justify it.
