Brilliant as always! What a beautiful piece! Thanks for showing us this.

Thank you for this fantastic pattern! I am now 100 rows in on my SK360 standard gauge using a nice fingering weight yarn (loops and stitches woolike). Did have 5 false starts, but your pattern made it easy once I added line numbers and turned on the row counter. Once I got the bottom of that first page, I got the pattern down. The left edge was the most difficult to keep straight as the number of stitches between the lace holes didn't follow the rest of the row since it is a half-diamond. I did find it's easier to remember what direction to transfer by always transferring in the direction the lace is slanting upwards. This does cause the top point of the diamonds to have you transfer two stitches on one needle (three stitches on a needle) when coming to the point, but after the point, you transfer away from the center needle. And for the single lace hole on the top of each diamond, I chose to always transfer to the right. Creates a nice line following the diamonds on the right side of the fabric. Will be interesting to see how long it becomes as I approach the right side of the bed with the standard gauge.

Oh I meant to get a card for this lace, just forgot about it but I do need to get out one of my standard machines with the lace carriage. Would like out my SK700 but my Brother KH830 or Knit King 710 are easier to get to. This time of the year we have wood stored in totes in the spare bedroom where I also keep my machines, so I cannot get to all of them but will eventually. Sometimes when we hand transfer stitches, we may not see what is happening from the back side of the fabric, but as I did long ago, got down under the table and looked at it from the public side. Eventually I got to understand what was happening looking at the side facing us. And actually this pattern was online some time ago, cannot find it anymore or the person that did it, so really is not my doing but just knowing how to work lace on anything can be easier for some but not all. But very happy to hear you are working this on your standard machine. Later Berda

Thanks, I have done this lace many times but not with the shawl, but glad I finally got this done. Still need to work something on the edges, maybe a short fringe and will go to one of my grandnieces for sure. Berda

Hope you were able to follow along, once one gets into the rhythm of doing hand manipulated lace or any other designs, it gets easier.

Thanks, this did come out nice, I suspect I will be gifting this to my oldest grand this fall. Hope you did get to try it out. Once you get going with hand manipulation, it all falls into place and sometimes just so easy to do up. Berda

Thanks, I have been wanting to show this for a while, wish I could have found the web page that had this but didn't find it. So I finally took my notes I wrote down some time ago and got the chart worked up as the notes were for the brother bulky machine. Berda

Hi Roberta, I have just discovered your diamond pattern shawl, it looks wonderful. I am wondering if you have a written pattern for this, if so how can I get it. Thank you, Mary

www.hobbyknitter.com/files/patterns/diamond.html I have some spreadsheets there, I noticed that one didn't come up but just uploaded it. You may have to Right Click and Save As to get it to your computer. I do see that I need to add more of my notes to that page. I can just look at the fabric and figure out what has to be done but I have been hand tooling lace for years now, so it does happen in time. I know many cannot but you will eventually see how it goes. But hope that files will help you. Berda
