Thank you for showing this! I keep asking people about it and never really got any answers. So thank you!

OMG sooooo I recently started all this and have been doing it all wrong. I listened and learned from a "friend". I had no idea until yesterday. She taught me to use all of one color, then move on using all of the next one, and so on. One color at a time And also just take the whole cover paper off and throw that away. Well heck, my DP was not looking like others and I thought this is wrong. So now I have to go and reteach MYSELF how to do this. So I thank you for your videos. I appreciate them very much. I wonder though what do you do if you get just a clear cover paper.?? I have got a few like that. Not the paper kind. Just a clear sheet. WHat do you do?? Thank you again.

Oeh! Another great tip and lesson you learn 'how to' deal with that, to me irritating coverage paper lol! 😂 But your on to a great way, I immediately going to try this! Thank you so much for sharing 😎👍😃

I agree I'm right handed so i understand

I will soon be starting my first diamond painting. My plan is to start in the upper right-hand corner since I am left-handed. That way I will be able to keep the side of my hand off of the sticky canvas. I love your idea about cutting the top sheet into smaller sections and folding it back along the way. I will be sure to remember that helpful suggestion. I enjoy watching your videos very much. Thank you

I just cut the protective paper into thin strips and stick that around the edge instead of tap, this can be reused many times

Coming out great

Rather than trying to be precise with cutting the paper covering into strips, I would try covering the seams with painter's tape. It has such a light tack that it won't wrestle with you.
@missflip65224 жыл бұрын
Another way to cut the cover is to do exactly what you do to measure it and draw the faint line and then instead of picking up the cover and using scissors, try keeping the cover down and get a a craft knife or exacto knife and cut it that way. If you watch the video called Diamond Painting - how to cut your cover paper on canvas

When your canvas is larger than your light pad do you fold the part that is hanging over under your light pad and secure it? Mine is longer than my light pad and I was wondering if it is okay to do that.
@kristydugger81896 жыл бұрын
Washi tape, which is like masking tape, works a lot better than transparent tape.

So you asked another way to cut the paper they have a tool to cut wrapping paper and you just lift edge and push through so you can even square it off in sections if its a really large 5d
@sassygirl64075 жыл бұрын
Very good tip on that! I was struggeling with how to do that as it's my first painting 🙂. How big is your light pad? I noticed there's different sizes you can buy.
@preschoolteacheraddictedto12395 жыл бұрын
Sassy girl my light pad is a little larger than an 8.5x11in piece of paper. It’s also considered an “A4”

What kind of light pad should I invest in?

I have already completed 7 paintings and never got one with paper. Wonder why? I had been cutting the clear plastic into sections as I go. Now, I cover the entire canvas with parchment paper cut into about 7" squares. I also fold it as I work to make my work area smaller.

I think it depends on the company. I order a lot from Everydayedeal which they only come with clear plastic. I noticed my custom made ones from AliExpress and Heartful Diamond they come with paper adhesive. I find it doing this way was a little tricky as they don't give you enough, so I just replaced it with parchment instead.

Where do you get the cover paper?
@kathyerxleben26286 жыл бұрын
I love doing these but so far what I do is one color at a time. I see videos where everyone does sections but to me that seems more time consuming having to stop and change colors but I am willing to try it if it is easier and or quicker. Doing all one color at a time does mess with the paper. Does anyone else do just one color at a time?
@preschoolteacheraddictedto12396 жыл бұрын
Kathy Erxleben I tried completing one color at a time on a partial I did, but I didn’t like it. Switching between colors is quick for me, but it depends on your drill storage method I think. Bags aren’t quick, but the containers I use are. I did a video on drill storage that might help. If you find a drill storage method that works for you, moving between colors is really no big deal. Give it a try and let me know what you think! 😊👍🏻 Happy DPing!
@kathyerxleben26286 жыл бұрын
Megan Thompson thanks , I am going to try to do that with a small picture that I have. You are right, the bags take forever but I am going to try something different. Thanks for the comment back.

I now do one section at a time , changing colors as I go and I like it a lot better.
@lynneclark79025 жыл бұрын
My first painting was a rather large round drill painting. My storage system had screw on lids, so I wanted to use up all of the drills that I had poured out. Also, it was Starry Night, with different colors all over. So, I always looked for places to use up that color before moving on. My second is a square drill painting. I find that for squares, I need to work in sections in order to keep them lined up. When I placed them here and there, the lines looked too wavy.

Just lift it up and fold it as you go along
@kimknisley93964 жыл бұрын
Some of them don't fold so easy and if they do they don't stick back to the canvas. That's the issue I'm having
@zulanova12094 жыл бұрын
@@kimknisley9396 Ohh, that happened to me too in the beginning, personally, I'd recommend trying a different seller but I'm not forcing anyone here 😉
