In South Australia the state volunteer brigade prefers Urban Interface style trucks. We have 3 main models of Urban Interface trucks they are called a 24P, 34P or a 44P The first number refers to how much water they carry and the second means they are 4 wheel drive, the letter means they can also act as pumper, so a 34P has 3000 litres of water, is 4 wheel drive and can pump. They have pump and roll capabilities, they can respond to MVAs, they have foam, they can respond to bushfires, structure fires and have Active Crew Protection systems. They make up the majority of trucks in the state, we do have some dedicated Volunteer pumpers but they mostly operate on the fringe of the state capital.

@@HeroesNextDoor I think you'd be surprised :) departments in Australia are on a colossal scale. The Country Fire Service in South Australia alone has 16,000 volunteer fire fighters. Its huge.

The colour coordination is fantastic. Makes on scene response quick with minimal guesswork. Also, the labeling on the shelves is great…again, looks like it’s a bit of a timesaver, and would make things a bit easier for the new guy as well. ;)

Mini hazmat, mini rescue, mini water rescue, pumper / tanker, mini brush support, mini AFFR support, engine, foam, just missing light and air as well as command area and this truck could be on almost ever call and actually be helpful. Also a medic, just needs a tower or ladder. It is funny how much departments could save and improve if they had trucks that had at least a small amount of everything (especially if it’s a tiller truck). I am seeing that a lot more often on your channel. Most trucks I think of might have rescue and firefighting gear but not all that extra stuff.

It depends on where you are from and what era. Really they are interchangeable. But an easy way to think about it is a bottle holds water and a cylinder holds air.

Is the radio setup/freq. Not regualted/organized at all? We are standardized on a state level and additionally have national standards for "civil defense"/ catastrophe response
@Ryan292362 жыл бұрын
The radio set up in each of the apparatus in Walnutport are fairly simple. There are 2 in each apparatus. 1 vhf unit and 1 uhf unit. The vhf unit handle all communications with the primary communications center. (Lehigh County) The uhf handles communications with mutual aid counties. (Northampton and Carbon counties. Also in each unit is a minimum of 1 vhf and 1 uhf portable radio.

Did you ever stop to think that the taxpayers of these districts that you visit should maybe get a thank you? I have been in fire/ems for over 30 years and have never forgotte that ALL of this "dream equipment" is funded by local, county, state, federal dollars,whether it be from a local tax levy or the gluttonous homeland security boondoggle.Just a thought.
@HeroesNextDoor2 жыл бұрын
Yes we do. Most of the company’s we talk to only get a small portion of financial support from the taxpayers. They come up with genuineness ideas to improve and expand those small funds. But you are right we need to make sure the public is recognized and understand where the support go to.
