In our area of vehicle such as this would be considered a service truck. Our squads here are similar to some of the larger metropolitan areas nearby. The apparatus can, and most often does, operate as a typical engine would, has the majority of initial ladder company tools, Plus the equipment for Haz Mat, light vehicle rescue, and light technical rescue. In a similar manner, the neighboring organization operates the heavy rescue.

What's difference between squad and rescue?
@8thgenerationdairykid582 жыл бұрын
A squad is normally a engine rescue and a rescue has no water just rescue tools
@billbatdorf31372 жыл бұрын
Hello Peaceman73: Locally, There is no formal definition of a Squad vs a Rescue. In our community and surrounding areas, we're considered a Squad because we don't carry hydraulic rescue tools, also known as the "Jaws of Life" by most people. The truck you saw in the video can do "Truck Work" with the saws, hooks etc., it can do "Rescue work" with the tools, saws, struts etc., it can do "Re-hab" work with the MRE meals, coffee maker, refrigerator full of water and Gatorade, it can do Haz-Mat work with the absorbant blankets, booms, absorbant etc. Essentially, it is a resource for Chief fire officers that can handle most any hazard until the arrival of resources with greater capabilities and supplies. Hello Robert, No...Squad 33 is not considered a heavy rescue here in Pennsylvania. We provide technical support to a number of surrounding departments. For example, three neighboring departments all have the "Jaws of Life". On a vehicle accident with entrapment, the Squad will assume the duties of vehicle stabilization, battery control, windshield removal, etc., while rescue technicians from the rescue company do the actual extrication with their on-board hydraulic rescue tools. Thanks for your interest. Captain 33 Neptune Fire co.

How are they a rescue squad and they don't even have the jaw of life tools?
@HeroesNextDoor2 жыл бұрын
They are not a rescue. Just a response squad that can help at many different events
@billbatdorf31372 жыл бұрын
Hello Cube Hospitality Group: Just to be clear...Neptune Fire Company does not represent itself as a rescue company. Although, I would suggest that if you were trapped in your bedroom and the building was on fire, you would want Squad 33 to be on the assignment. (Define Rescue?) With that said, in the event of a traffic accident where you or a loved one is trapped in your vehicle or a similar personal rescue , it would work something like this...of our three neighboring departments who have hydraulic rescue tools, the closest "rescue" to your accident would be dispatched along with an engine company and the squad company, plus an ambulance and an advance life support unit (Paramedic). On arrival, the engine company would assume responsibilities of fire protection.....i.e. making sure you don't burn to death in your vehicle. The Squad would assume the responsibility of stabilizing the vehicle (preventing it from turning over on you or another firefighter or rolling away uncontrollably), disconnecting the battery power to prevent fire or unanticipated inflation of air bags or electrical issues that could start a fire, removal of the windshield or window glass etc. The assigned unit with hydraulic rescue tools would begin extrication operations and upon completion, would then turn you (or your loved one) over to EMS for treatment, either BLS (basic life support) or ALS (advanced life support). Just a friendly reminder...Every one of these people are 100% volunteer...they left work, school, jobs etc. to respond to your emergency and they were paid nothing to do so. Thank you for your interest in this video. Captain 33 Neptune Fire Co.

I am not a firefighter, but I would like to ask this. Why do fire depts. order their new trucks to their specifications? Wouldn't a standard truck, if offered by the manufacturer be a lot cheaper than ordering a very specific one? Aren't the departments across the USA similar in their requirements, that an off the rack truck would fit? These are paid for by tax payers money in most part.
@HeroesNextDoor2 жыл бұрын
That’s a great question but it might be to long of an answer for here. Maybe log in to the live streams and we can address it
@JesusisKingBpt Жыл бұрын
Stock trucks dom't necessarily work becuase the us has different diverse areas that have certain requirements. There is no standardization partly becuase that would not work its more regional here . Its like that for canada at the most part too . Alot of depts do use stock tricks though they have their uses.

@@HeroesNextDoor what they, and maybe even you, don’t understand is if you get an initial seal that’s great. It’s when you begin working and sweating. That sweat can travel through the hair and end up causing a loose seal. There’s a reason why NFPA recommends no facial hair where your mask seal is. But a lot of departments, especially volunteer, don’t follow it.

@@billbatdorf3137 it’s funny you assume I sit outside making sure my mask is perfectly sealed while Mrs. Smith is inside her burning home.
