Diamondback Sidekick: adjusting windage and elevation. Watch before you buy one.

I purchased a Diamondback Sidekick about 3 weeks ago. I was shooting close to 2 feet low and 3-3.5 inches to the left. In this video I tell you how to adjust windage and elevation on a revolver with fix sights.

My Heritage RR was shooting high and left. I built up the front sight with some JB Weld and bent it slightly to the left. Pretty accurate now but I would prefer to have adjustable sights. Thanks for sharing.

I did the same thing with my Heritage Rough Rider and am dead on out to 40 yds. Just take your time and shoot off the bench frequently to see where you're hitting. This is much better than bending the front site. Thanks

If you’re shooting low file down front sight. Take you time. I sighted my in for 15 yards so it’s basically dead on from 0-25 yards. I was shooting about a foot in a half low. I filed off about 1/8 inch from the front sight.

Did you have to file the whole length of the groove wall or just the front near the hammer ... seems to me I would have to file the whole length of the groove wall to open it up and not just the front / start of the opening ?

No. I only filed on the right side of rear sight opening. I didn’t have to file much at all. I didn’t touch the groove. I have no problem seeing down the groove or lining the front band rear sight. But, if I needed to do that I would have.

Did you hold the file flush / square with the rear sight opening or did you use a slight angle to take off just some the 90deg corner . Sorry for all the questions but I have never worked on any guns or had to file a sight down so I want to make sure I do it right the first time ... wish you still had your original video that YT took down , Could have gotten a clearer picture of the procedure.

I used a small flat sided file at 90 degrees on the side of the rear sight. I took care not to touch the bottom of the rear sight with the file. I’m looking at my gun right now. The rear groove is actually wider than the rear notch sight. The rear sight sits up about a 1/16” above the groove. So you shouldn’t have to file the groove at all.

My ruger wrangler is about the same I get they are cheap but you would think a standard for a gun would be the customer can at least hit a target with it. It don’t have to be a nail driver but come on, and then if you file the sight to fix the thing it voids the warranty like what 🤦‍♂️

I don’t think so. I bought a set of small files, 8 or ten in a pack. It came with a small soft storage case. It was years ago I can’t remember the brand. Various shapes. Great for small filing projects.

One, your videos will keep being pulled down if you don't show us that the gun is indeed empty... your words are not enough sir. Second, nothing wrong with this gun... Sorry, doesn't matter if you've bought every gun, ever. It's a .22 revolver that can sink all 9 on the plate (or 8 in this instance), it is however not a target or competition revolver. it shoots .22s, LR or MAG... That's it! That's about all you need. if you wanted an accurate plinker, there are like a million semi autos that are not 100 dollars more and they'll sink all 10 or 30 into the plate at 40 yards (S&Ws go to 65 and beyond). I bought the laser etched version with the U.S. flag grips and mine works fine. I'll look into this, but the truth is I've heard more than one person complain about this at the range and the range master somehow gets everyone shoot it right. Worst gun, Nah, go buy a Taurus... well there are actually several models that will absolutely change your mind about worst gun bought, anything with PT before it might end up getting you killed. Hell, I have a PT 738 that I've never fired because I'm honestly convinced it will explode. The PT 1911 is the coolest looking paperweight you'll ever have, it's unfortunately an amalgam of all the bad parts of each series of 1911 pistol all bundled into one nearly useless firearm. good luck hitting anything with it. If you aren't happy with it, get a gunsmith to fix it or get rid. more candor, I don't see any of these at pawn shops. but i do see a lot of wranglers and RRs.

Bottom line. I say and do what I want. It’s my video. It’s my experience and my opinion. My experience and opinion is based of shooting guns in the military, also a unit armorer and law enforcement and personal shooting dating back to 1978. Based on my experience with this firearm it still the worst in accuracy of any gun I ever owned or ever fired and I have fired a truck load in my life. So I disagree with you on this.
