That's gonna be a fun one for sure. Can't wait to try one for myself. I think it's awesome that they deviated from the normal, loading gate style, six round, SAA platform while keeping the slick 1873 look. Not that there's anything wrong with the traditional way but different can be a lot of fun sometimes. Great job DB 👍

will also be a nice gun for seniors who can't rack a slide or fix a FTF or FTE and struggle to load a magazine. 9 shots of 22 magnums will surely stop or deter an intruder.

i bought a 4 & 7\8 in barreled heritage arms that came with a 22lr & 22 magnum cylinder. i have been considering getting a ruger wrangler but i think the sidekick would be alot better option. i definately like the swing out cylinder versus the loading gate. i wonder if the grips are interchangeable with the wrangler? aweome review, cant wait to see the shooting impressions.

Would like longer barrel (9") and better sights. And lightweight version would be great too. That would make an ideal survival/woods walking gun, loaded with a shot shell under the first round chamber would make it excellent for dealing with slithering reptiles too. The cylinder release being too close to the end of the barrel is a safety concern

Surprised that you didn’t mentions that this design does not use ‘transfer bar safety system’ but a ‘hammer block’ incorporated into the pistol and only disengages when the trigger is pulled back like the ‘transfer bar’ system to the pistol to discharge, however it is a different safety method. Should you have the hammer cocked the safe way to lower it is the same as other transfer bar/hammer block systems. Being extremely careful should you have live rounds in the cylinder, hold the hammer back so it does not move forward, press the trigger to release the hammer. Take your finger completely off the trigger then lower the hammer and this will allow the hammer block to engage to safely lower the hammer without striking the firing pin. There are probably other video’s explaining this type of safety on KZbin. However your video was very well done in discussing the Diamondback Sidekick 22/22mag pistol. It does catch your eye with it’s features for this type of pistol.

I love everything about that revolver except the frame is Zmak alloy. I don't know which one; zmak 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or 7, but each alloy has different properties depending on the amounts of alloying metals (aluminum, copper, etc.). If you could find out and let us know it would help (me, anyway).

@@GBGuns only because I'm old enough to remember saturday-night-specials and have a feeling of revulsion for those cheaply made firearms. Like being unable to trust a semi-auto that only has an ftf once in a couple hundred rounds - but I won't carry it. I just don't know that it could take the abuse my old single-six did when I was young and stupid. Just me.

@@GBGuns well, I know they're a quality brand; didn't mean to imply otherwise. It's the association of the metal with those that gets me. I'll probably argue myself blue in the face until I buy one, just because I think the innovative engineering of it is pretty special. Don't mind me if I'd rather they used 7075t6 or even A380; just my prejudice against zinc

@GBGuns3 жыл бұрын
No, they're a chamber plug. The Sidekick is safe to dry fire.
@mateoocampo31653 жыл бұрын
How do you make a rimfire OK to dry fire? The firing pin isn't mashing against the cylinder? Something has to give. But a couple of other new rimfire handguns designs are making the same claim. Could you show a close up of how the firing pin/breachface interface works?

I bought one. Big mistake. Had to send it back. Kept locking up in double action. Failed the function test. Got tired of Diamondback's "jumping through hoops" program and ultimately told them to keep it and put it in a wet and warm place. Be warned.

It is going to be a on demand gun, but you can't find them anywhere. The dealers just laugh at you when you say you want to order one. So what's the deal with the ads, or can you tell us where we can purchase one and get it soon. The politicians have everything bottled up....

These guns are absolute junk. They have no practical accuracy, the screws rattle loose after a short shooting session, and they have problems with ejecting rounds, which are related to the Cerocote build-up in the cylinders. Mine was literally keyholing rounds and shooting a 15-inch group at 10 yds off of the bench. Save your money and buy a Heritage. Mine has to go back to Diamondback to see if they can fix this dog. Unfortunately, I am not very hopeful that it is fixable. So far customer service has been satisfactory though. JUNK JUNK JUNK JUNK. Thanks for the review, though, and I hope yours is better than the one I got.
