Now it obviously if you bought the gold somewhere else and try and sell it to then they will value the gold them self as to not get ripped off .You have a better chanche getting the full price you payed back if you bought it from them since they keep their data of who bought what and can check the price and say yeah ok ,look if the product is undamaged and refunded you the whole price and take the gold back . But if you bought it at another place and don't have proof you paid x no # they aren't gonna pay you what you spent on it .

Now the actual answer is that you don't realize how cheap mid-low tier filler stones are because you're not ordering wholesale gemstones. You can order loose low end diamonds online for very very cheap.

i think it’s more that they don’t want to strip down a piece and have diamonds they can’t necessarily use unless they are asked to make a piece where these diamonds can be reused with no problem. trax and other jewelers usually buy the diamonds when they about to make the piece so they can get the sizes they need and not have left overs.

The labor of setting each stone is where the crazy price tags come from. Because the labor price is obviously separate from diamond price, you can never recover what you spent at the counter to get the piece. Plus, you also devalued your gold by reducing weight after drilling holes in it. So the gold you bought at a premium is no longer worth what you paid to get it either. This is why Jewelers love diamonds lol

This is something that in an emergency i can get my cash bak, but encrusted, ESP a bracelet, is gonna lose a stone.. and i like wearing my jewelry.. diamond jewelry is too fragile and easy to lose.. if thats not gonna hurt u, go for it. I got these chains as an investment i can wear, not freak out cus a stone is missing, or have to take it off everytime i wash my hands, take a swim or nap.
