*TIP* - use a torch to heat the mold before pouring. Also use the torch to flame the spout or point where it pours. Constant heat helps it flow and form smoother and easier.

You have to heat your mold as well to stop the gold from coming in contact with a cold mold. Both should be heated simultaneously. I've done plenty of silver and it is the same way.

There's zinc impurities in that gold, you can tell because it's bubbling a bit and giving off white fumes. That's also probably why you had casting problems on the first pour.

If you pre heat the mold before you pour will help. Because your pouring hot to cold. Pre heating the mold will produce a better brick. That's why you had a shitty first pour because the mold was cold . The mold was still a little warm on pour #2.pre heat, pre heat. Very important.
