Hi Katie. Thanks for this WIP n chat. I’m working on once upon a dream from Staroar. Little witch in pink dress. I made some good progress tonight. I’m very glad for Fall to be here. Days are feeling so much better after the very hot summer. One of our local craft fair/festivals was held this weekend, which was cancelled last year. I so enjoyed going to that again. I love seeing how creative people can be! Always coming up with new and clever ideas and beautiful ways to create art. It’s amazing! I hope you will be able to take a break on your own. My son is grown now, but I was a single parent. parents really do need some time away from their kids to recharge and relax. Take care and see ya soon. 🐈

I completely agree about the over use of ABs. I saw Jessica’s unboxing as well as Bev Bee’s. And think you are right. And I think it’s why some of the kit prices are getting high. Also. I want you know this has been a hard summer for me as well. I’m not sure what’s going on in the Universe. But finding your channel and listening to your chats has really raised my spirits. Your honesty and warmth is so nice to get to be a part of. 🐈🐈🐈

I enjoy sharing my coffee addiction with friends!☕ The colors in this canvas are beautiful. I think AB's are a personal preference, so my thoughts are to include a few AB's and the regular color in the same DMC code so we have a choice. I know that adds a bit extra cost, but maybe a company could offer it as extra option. Have a wonderful week sweet friend. 💜😸💜

🐱 I loled at your story of driving with your dad because my dad did the same thing! There’s a big pool at the edge of my parents’ neighborhood and my dad would take me to do doughnuts in the empty parking lot when the weather was bad. I also feel you on the interesting AB choices some companies have been making. It often takes me a while to decide what colors to swap out and where while I look at an area and think about where the light would highlight. So I can see how it would be more efficient for companies to leave it up to computer charting even though the results don’t always make sense 😕

Haaaay! Ohio girl here too! I am 100% the same with the seasons. Once fall is here and we get the crisp fall air I throw my windows open and deep clean. Everything smells like pumpkin and I drink my pumpkin spice coffee under a blanket while I do my WIP. I can't wait for the cold to finally settle in. 🤣🤣

Love the story of your son. It reminds me of when I was a teacher in a daycare. I was in the 2yrs old classroom. We had a little girl who spent an entire day throwing the f bomb. She had never cursed and so it shocked all of us. When we mention this to her mother, she told us she was asking for her frog beanie she had in her cubby (her cubby was out of her reach) 🐸🤣 🐈‍⬛

I’m working on Starry Night Santa from DAC and the AB’s in that are just beautiful. They’re used to accent the star and the sparkling snow and the lights in the village. A great example of how to use AB’s well.

Hey Katie 😁. Absolutely love your WIP and Chats!! I'm so, so happy that both your kids seem to be adjusting well to the changing schedule the school year brings! Hearing about Micah (spelling?) and Connor makes me both smile and cry at the same time because it reminds me, to some degree, of what a difficult journey I had raising my son (in his early life) due to postpartum psychosis. With boys, I think it gets easier the older they get (and girls are opposite in that way), so I hope you find this comforting, lol 😂... Usually gets better! I'm so happy you'll be able to get away, even if Adam can't! It will do wonders for your psyche!! If you or y'all plan a getaway to Arizona, I would love to meet you! I live in Tucson... Where are your parents or in-laws (sorry, I don't remember which 🤔) moving to? I totally agree with both you and Jessica's assessment of the recent onslaught of ab's in the newer kits. I know this is most likely due to some ab-crazy diamond painters (especially creators who diamond paint), gushing how they will bling out their kits for an extremely sparkly finish. The companies want to please their customers. However, the companies, as you mentioned, need to put in a little more work and creativity, about proper placement of ab's and rhinestones. So, many thanks for being brave and going "against" the bling bling train 😂😂!! I'm still plugging away on Lavender Witch from DIYMOON! My first time working on a DIYMOON Shop canvas, unfortunately I'm fighting with the canvas (to be fair, it's an old canvas) because the glue doesn't hold the drills, so I have to go over these areas again... Glad to hear that Micah's speech assessment went well. I hope you do get the chance to get away for some time for yourself. That is always important. I am working on "Ocean" by Anna Dittmann. I am having an absolute blast working on it. I love the way they rendered this diamond painting. I've heard people mention a rendering style where the drill field is placed on top of the artwork. I believe that is how this was rendered. It makes the drill field super clear. You also don't have the issue of weird drills in places they don't belong like you sometimes have in computer charting. It came with three ABs, and I like where they've placed them. They are used as accents. I don't think DIYmoon Shop is rendering this image in that style anymore, I think they might have been trying out different factories. After this experience, I think I would prefer if they actually rendered all of their artwork this way. 😸

😻😻😻 I feel the same way regarding the AB's. I actually have the same kit Jessica talked about The Night Owl and also was taken aback by the AB's in her face. They are suppose to be highlights and not sure how that would work on skin. Love listening to your WIP and chats. Hope your week is going well.

Hi Katie, Love “watching” your channel while I dp. You feel like a close friend with all that you share with us. So glad Micah is doing well with ST. When you spoke about wearing leggings, here in Australia we say “Leggings are not pants!” LOL. I myself love trackie pants (tracksuit pants or sweat pants to you) or jeans when I need to dress up a bit more. At the moment I’m working on Flora by Sybile Art from Craft Ease and I love her so much. There are crystal drills in this kit for something a bit different. I’ve just received my first DAC kit. Universe in a Jar and I used you code. Thank you so much. Every bit helps. Shipping is $57 alone to Australia, even for 1 pen! So I need to save up for anything from there. Must let you go. Im off to bed it’s 10pm when it’s 7am for you on the same day. I’ve worked out, that you drop a new video when I’m going to bed, so I have to wait for the following day to watch lol. Hi Katie ☺️. I am working on a Josephine Wall diamond painting called "Water of Life" that I purchased from Uniquely Yours Down Under. It is double sided adhesive with round drills (thank God) in 102 colors. I put it aside for Drillsandchills and dppinkforbca. Totally agreed on the ABs! I've seen multiple companies swap out all 310s for ABs or huge patches of skin tones for ABs - it drives me crazy!

I am working on "Batwing" by Jazmin Castillo and Distracted by Diamonds. I am not a huge round fan - but I absolutely love the colors it in so I had to get it for Drills and Chills. I live in Ohio and the weather has been still kind of hot - not SoCal 100 digit temperature hot, but still very warm for being halfway in to October! The heat makes me cranky so I am looking forward to the cool weather, but not so much the overcast/gloomy days. Also - I feel like people in Ohio drive very similar to CA! Either way too reckless or turn themselves into hazards because they go too slow. Definitely not looking forward to any winter inclement weather!!

That is exactly how I’ve been feeling about the ABs lately. I’ve received a couple that the background is lots of AB. Why would it be a full background? Or black ABs in hair that should be black, then it doesn’t look black, it’s blue green and purple metallic. I’ve been replacing ABs with regular drills. 🤔

I completely agree with you about the AB’s. I’m not a huge fan of “bling” so I definitely only want it in my paintings if it makes sense. I don’t like sparkle just for the sake of sparkle. Too much of it can sort of cheapen the picture, in my humble opinion, of course.☺️🐈🐈‍⬛

I bought a Treasure Studios kit last October in a square. I think it's called Treasure Secrets. It was a collab with Rachel Rae. I've been working on it for drillsnchills. The square drills are horrible. So many sizes, shapes, rounds, tabs, and flash. I fill my tray with drills and pull out the crappy ones. I'm generally left with 1/2-2/3 usable squares. It's taking forever 😩

There is SAD for summer, it’s more rare but it’s real. I know this because I have it! I have to be on antidepressants during the summer and then I taper off during fall and I’m fine till it gets hot again. We were stationed in San Diego for four years and I didn’t have it at all. Then we moved back to Texas and it’s been a problem ever since.

I just discovered your channel and learned about diamond painting. It’s so relaxing to watch and listen to you. I’ll probably not start Diamond painting myself (too many other hobbies 😅). But who knows …. I was wondering about what you said about your little 3,5 year old and that he is going to preschool. Is that like school (=learning) in the US? Or is it just called ‚school’? I am from Germany and children here go to preschool just the last year before actual elementary school (age 5/6). Between 1 and 5 years it’s called Kindergarten and its basically only playtime there. They may learn basic shapes and numbers. And they do a lot of arts and crafts. But they don’t have to ‚learn’ anything. What do children do in pre school in the US? I also believe that children here generally don’t go to speech therapy before they are 4-5 years. By the way. I LOVE Supernatural since the beginning. I stopped after seasons 6 or 7 back then. But recently I rewatched all the way until the last season (which is not available for free here yet). I don’t want it to end 😢 🐈

I’m working on a TAS for Drills and chills and unfortunately i’m not impress with the quality of the square drills :( The size from a color to the other are not the same so it leave cracks between them, but I love the picture so I still enjoy doing it. 🐱🐱

Hey there! I have been doing diamond paintings for many years now. And I watch a lot of the shows because they are just so enjoyable. But I have a question for all fellow diamond painters. Why oh why are there so many facial, gothic females, fairyland themes. I have actually gone to the distributors to ask this but have yet to get an answer. I know there are nature themes, landscapes etc. but so few in comparison. I thought someone out in our craft world would maybe have an answer or thoughts on this. Do people hang these up in there homes? Don’t get me wrong I’ve done about three or four of these facial ones just because of the color schemes or for simply doing the craft because it is so relaxing. But I find myself end up throwing them away over time because I definitely wouldn’t hang them up in my home. I’ve even sent some off to goodwill. Any thoughts?

Hi Beth! I’m sorry I’m just now responding. Honestly? I think that those themes must be what sells the best for these companies. A lot of people (myself included) actually don’t hang any completed projects in their homes, so that’s maybe less of a concern? For what it’s worth, it seems like both Diamond Art Club and Dreamer Designs have a lot of landscapes and other more “neutral” options, compared to some other companies.

Whenever I hear you talking about the American health system it makes me cringe. I thank god that I live in Australia and don’t have these issues. My son has be in speech for two years and we have no problems getting private lessons. It must be so overwhelming to have to choose speech and raise your health cost.
