She had affairs because she was alone... She was married to a man she loved who didnt care about her. She wanted to cancel the wedding when she realized it was nothing but an arranged marriage, her family wouldnt let her though. Charles had Camilla as well as other mistresses on the side. Diana wanted to feel loved too, and nobody is perfect. She had her issues and she wasnt emotionally equipped nor mature enough to be married into what she was married into. I doubt her experiences with Charles did much good for her either.
