Diana was only 15 yrs. old in this live performance. It was on the Russian song contest "You're Super!", a special competition showcasing youth who had come from broken homes, etc. Diana was abandoned when she was three, and spent some time in an orphanage before being taken in by her current foster parents. She suffered from speech impairment, so authorities advised her new guardians to provide a vocal specialist to help her. Diana is a contralto, meaning that she sings in the lowest registers naturally (like Cher). But she also has a very good range, allowing her to hit higher notes, and can sing in falsetto as well. And needless to say, she has an awesome texture to her voice, and is pitch perfect. She competed in the same "You're Super!" contest in both 2018 and 2019, and won both years. She also won the 2018 New Wave Junior international contest for young pop music performers. As a result of these achievements, she was granted a full scholarship to the State Institute of Theater Arts in Moscow. She turns 18 at the end of this coming May. She participated in the TV project "You are super!" in 2018 with the songs "Derniere danse" (French), "It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” (English), “The River” (Russian), “Tomorrow Is A Lie” (English) and won. In 2019, she repeated the success, won the Grand Prix on the TV show "You are super! Superseason." with the songs "Blizzard" (Russian), "Wicked Game" (English), "Human" (English). Great reaction! Your astonishment is not exceptional! Diana uses many vocal techniques rarely used in pop music (like overtones, yodel..). The one that amaze people the most is the polyphonic voice. The root notes are enriched with powerful harmonics which can give the impression that there are several overlapping voices or an artificial effect which gives this result. This technique is used in Slavic folk music, like Bulgarian vocal groups or artists like Pelageya, the Russian folk diva. I cannot tell you exactly how these artists achieve this result, I was just told that it is linked to the simultaneous use of the different resonators of the human body and that such a mastery of the voice and of the breath with such a fluidity requires years of work, Diana has been singing on stage and has been taking singing and performing arts lessons since the age of 6! This broadcast is "You're Great!" ("You are Super"), a song contest reserved for children who have had a difficult start in life. This is the case of Diana who was mistreated and ended up in an orphanage at 3 years old. In this shows Diana is directing, arranging and preparing her performances herself. She's a real creator. That's Diana's voice, no tricks, no gimmicks. She's 15 here and she indeed won the competition. This is a show that features orphans and disadvantaged children only. Diana was an orphan child, unfortunately (she was adopted into a good home at a young age). She's about to release her first album in May. She turns 18 in May as well.

@@xsezz Diana did not win this show. She did not even make the top five. First place was a tie. It went to Denbeer and Simoganova. What Diana won was the Grand Prix, the audience award. She got 49% of the votes. Diana did win the previous year in 2018 (She was 14 yrs old). The following year, she entered the contest again which consisted of previous contestants and new ones. She sang Blizzard, Wicked Game and Human. So, how come she didn't win the regular season award? Certainly she was the best. What happened? I don't know. But I can think of a couple of reasons: 1. Some people were complaining that rules were broken. Diana already won the previous year, so why was she allowed to compete "again?" This would be unfair. 2. The producers of the show knew it was wrong to allow her to compete again, but allowed her to sing her songs. However, she would not be considered for the regular season award. Only for the Grand Prix. But I'm only guessing. Is there anybody who knows what really happened? Please let us know.

Diana is a dramatic alto, the rarest alto type. Dimash is the universe, but Diana is the earth, our home ... and when you hear her voice you feel like she has wrapped you in a warm velvet blanket and served you a mug of hot, dark chocolate. Every song is a unique experience, it captivates you, you feel bound by magic. Diana was born May 2003. 31 in Arsenyev in the Far East Russia. She didn't have a happy start in life. The woman who gave birth to her, had 12 pregnancies, only Diana survived... and she did not love her child, mistreated her severely and tried to drown her. Relatives found the child with a broken collarbone in the street and took the 3-year-old girl to a children's home shortly thereafter. Finally, there she found love... from Irina Ponik, who worked as a massage therapist and treated children from the orphanage. Irina Ponik and her daughter Nastya fell in love with Diana. Taking a child into the family was of course not easy for Irina ... Of course, taking a child into the family was not easy for Irina but she became her 'mother' when Diana was 5 years. Diana now lives in a poor but loving family. Diana spoke badly but sang all the songs from cartoons. An acquaintance of her mother, a musician, noticed that Diana had a perfect pitch and advised her to take singing lessons. So Diana took lessons from the singing teacher Elena Anatolyevna Kazantseva, who discovered Diana's talent. And so it all started ... The Arseniev period lasted from the end of 2008 to September 2012. During this time Diana sang around 40 songs, including at competitions. Diana's mother became her daughter's manager, she found the addresses of music competitions, negotiated with the organizers and selected a repertoire. Everything that has to do with Diana's singing training, performances and competitions is organized and coordinated by her mother Irina Ponik. She is looking for sponsors because flights are expensive and took extra sewing courses. Since then she's been sewing all of Diana's stage costumes, because all of these things consume the family budget. She accompanies her daughter on trips and captures her life in photos and videos with the persistence of a visionary. After winning a competition in Moscow, Diana's mother was offered to leave the girl in a boarding school for gifted children. She refused and in 2012 moved with her small family to her hometown of Toglyatti, much closer to Moscow. Here are three reasons why Diana doesn't sound human. First, she is a dramatic contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. It is a gift from God, and others have called it the Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below) When you add all that up you basically get a person who who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune. And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. @@xsezz I've watched videos of her when she was a little kid and she sounded pretty much like all the other girls singing with her. Then in videos a couple years later maybe around age 10, you can hear her voice start to change and be different from the other girls. A few years later maybe 12 or 13, she is definitely different from all the other girls. In this video she is 14 or 15 (14 I think) and her voice is mind blowing. And think about this, today she is 17 (almost 18) and her voice is still growing. Today she is studying at the Moscow Academy of the Arts (or something like that). Just imagine what she will sound like after several years of artistic training and is all grown up. !!!! I can't wait to find out!
