Arguably, Ross's interpretation of Billy Holiday's music is honestly unmatched by what I would say are even some of the greatest jazz singers of Billy's music. Diana Ross did something very different with Billy's music that even decades after I saw the film I cannot describe why Diana Ross's Billy Holiday is still, for me, unmatched and resonates with me beyond contemporaries who have tried to mimic not interpret Billy's Karma. Diana Ross sang Billy Holiday's music like Diana Ross which captured the melancholy of Billy's voice but more importantly Ross nailed the brokenness of a woman of color destined for greatness in the entertainment industry. Diana Ross is unmatched in her portrayal of Billy Holiday, period.

Go head ms.ross the boss a true artist showing how capable and comfortable and reverse and the depth of her artistry is ,and how as always how smooth her delivery of song is, and it seems to for some reason to make detractors jealous. Because there is no true reason anybody can say with honesty that Diana cannot sing jazz & blues . And when one says she meaning Diana Ross don't know jazz or some one says she cannot sing jazz & blues you know people hear you speaking even the very musician's that originally has been reported as saying Diana did those songs so well there is or was anyone that could have done those songs any better other than "Lady Day" . I believe as most people and the success of "Lady Sings The Blues can attest to that fact and the soundtrack was a smash hit scoring number (1) one the charts . And with that fact being said why would they get someone from Chicago or as another spoke Diana Ross don't know jazz " qoite ," unqoite and listen to those who spoke those words . Because they apparently got what they were looking for which was a stellar performance by All and I mean All and I especially mean Diana because the hate was aimed at her and she performance of each and every song in that movie and on record is bar none. That's just straight up hating and for what reason is so much venom spewing from some of the responses on here why so much hate
