Being a young white guy in the 70s who grew up digging rock music, I can't deny that I really dug Diana Ross's disco tunes. This lady is one talented class act. Still love her music today even more so. What a great era to be young.

Wow. Diana at this point was so comfortable in her stardom, singing and performing abilities she was just awesome. To talk with, dance with and sing with the crowd members and invite them on stage and have so much fun. With all that, she was still in control, nothing got out of hand and she was just a master.

It is high time the Rock and Roll hall of Fame gave her her own place in the hall. She deserves it every bit as much as Aretha, Tina and other superstars of her era. She has soloed, sung lead or duet on 18 number one singles in the rarefied air of Elvis, the Beatles, Mariah and Madonna (who has 12; tied with the Supremes). Let's go, Rock and Roll hall. Now is the time while she is still with us.

Diana Ross is a walking treasure, I love the fact that she doesn't attach herself to so called stars or celebrities. I see all these lesser stars from the past all up in front of cameras and taking pictures with any stars they can to stay relevent. Diana does her tours and then it's back home to see her Grandkids grow up. She always marched to her own beat and was never Star Struck. She always knew she would be a success.

Yes Diana Ross called Gamble and Huff and told them to come check out her show and her background singers. She would give them a 15 min set on stage and Kenny Gamble came to check them out and they were singing "If I Ever Lose This Heaven" and that's how they got signed to Philadelphia International.

You can tell she genuinely loved what she was doing. It's also interesting that she is doing the long version of this wonderful tune with the seldom heard first verse. Back in 1976 when I was 12 and this song was often on the radio, they usually played a shorter version that contained the second verse and going straight into the disco part.

Read her biography:while she admits to suffering from some form of anorexia in her younger years (she explains that back then they didn't have a name for this in the black community) she never experimented w/ drugs, especially having studied to prepare for her role in the harrowing life story of Billie Holiday. Diana's had the same stage faces and movements since the 60s. Frankly,for me the 70's represents her prime; sexy,ultra-glamourous, funky, and fun-loving. She could get down in concert.
@waynej2608

Her performance as Billie Holiday was nothing short of perfection. The bio film played fast and loose with the facts, but Diana was note perfect. People owe it to themselves to see Lady Sings the Blues, for her performance, if for no other reason. And Richard Pryor, in a supporting role, ain't too shabby either.

This was really a rare TV appearance for Diana Ross at that time. In the mid- and late-1970s, she almost never appeared on TV that much, compared to years before and later. So this was a great treat at the time!

I have always loved this song! LA's Former AM 1230 KGFJ Used to play this song all the time. A Mentor of Mine was one of Diana Ross' Bodyguards in The 80's! He went on To own a Successful Finance Company & Taught Me Alot about Investing! While I was in The Navy, I Ran My 1st Business from Overseas! Now Retired, I have 3 Businesses & Dual Citizenship in The USA/Canada!

The Jones Girls on background vocals....this is one of disco's greatest anthems. Definitely top 3, where disco tunes are concerned. its an all time great. She took the blueprint Donna Summer gave us, with the sex-kitten vocal, and ran with it on this jam. Its one of my favorite tunes, period. And I got like 7 different (remix) versions on flash drive. All Hail, 'Lady Supreme'.

During this period the fans/audience didn't seem so distant or unattached from each other like they are now. As someone mentioned you can't imagine getting on stage with superstars like Diana and performing with them too
