Ms. Diana Ross is an electrify singer, no one todate can sing Billie Holiday songs like Ms. Ross.

I love Nikki Howards version of this, but as good as it sounds it doesn't rip my heart apart like this one. This seems so personal. As beautiful as she is, I feel she has lived the lyrics to this song. She goes to the dark space of the lyrical content, when she sings. You really feel it...at "he beats me too." She says, "I hate that line." Maybe Diana has lived this song at sometime in her life. None the less...she is beautiful and has a pleasant angelic voice. Flawless. Sad song, but flawless.

Oh. wow. I wasn't prepared for this. I swear my jaw hit the floor with the last note. Such a power, but at the same she doesn't "overdo" this, perfect.

There is something so beautiful in Diana's soul that goes beyond all the petty human judgements of her mistakes, temperament and limitations. This woman was born to perform and to communicate, which is a loving gift she has given generously for decades now. She has shown by example the virtues of hard work, vital energy, perseverance, setting goals & creating dreams, beautiful values & personal transformation. Let's honor Diana Ross and hold her up to the Light with LOVE ***

the freat thing about this time in diana's career was that she had been in the business for almost 20 years and she was still performing at this exceptional lervel. then a few years later her career kick started again with the chic album. diana kept having hits throughout the world, especially in the UK where she had a huge hit in 2004 with westlife.

Kari, We need to agree to disagree. This was Billie's song and no one else's. Both Babs, whom I adore, and Diana did a fantastic job. The movie, " Lady Sings the Blues", is a very favourite film of mine. I saw it as a 18 year old and it made an impact. Years later, I found out why. I have Billie 's birthday.....April 7th. I can sing too! Thankfully, I did not become victimized at such a young age as Lady Day did. Billie's voice is bliss. I hope to meet her in the next life. God bless smooth blues music. The Lady with the Gardenia will be eternally remembered. Peace.

A definitive performance amongst so many definitive performances. She just kicks this song into a level most singers can only dream of. I've seen her perform this many times live including directly to Berry Gordy at the legendary Pantages show in '04. No one can master the range of music that Miss Ross has, and this clip just proves that point.

Darlin, you have not yet missed out. I have loved Diana Ross from the first time I heard her when I was a baby -- but it took me 25 years to see her for the first time -- in 1998 -- and I've seen her seven times since then. You do whatever it takes (that's legal, safe, and sane, of course) and you go see this woman. There is NOTHING on earth like being in the same room with her. DO NOT deny yourself this! Aretha phones it in these days, and Jackie Wilson is dead, but YOU SEE DIANA!

She is just.... remarkable. The most gifted female entertainer of our time... and yet the most underrated... fitting for someone who has had to counter the two extremes her entire life. She seems to have grown into acceptance of being misunderstood in her lifetime because she's also grown wise enough to know that in posterity, she will probably be elevated to a place FAR beyond her peers. ;)

I am not bitter. I love Diana ross. I just think people should be given credit where it's due. Gladys herself said she reccomended that Berry Gordy come and see them in person. People didn't pay her much mind. What you are correct about is Bobby Taylor. He was one of the first people who saw their potential. I don't appreciate you telling me I know nothing about how promotion and music industry works however, I have studied about the industry for years. Furthermore....
