I really appreciate your channel/content & love for Miss Ross. I was a dancer in Vegas for many years and got chance to see her live @ Cesar's Palace several times . No one could touch her glamour or star quality! Was able to see her sing live while wearing the solid reinstone dress she wore in the video for Missing You. Ill never forget how the dress changed colors depending on the lights... changed my life! Lol Graduated high school in 85'...she was the Beyonce of my generation 💖

My dream would be to participate in the curating of a Diana Ross Gown exposition.

Bonjour monsieur Benhamou! My Diana awakening happened in 1966, I was 6, my beautiful mother (an Audrey Hepburn twin)brought home the " I hear a symphony " album and it was on..my ears woke up to that voice and the perfect arrangements...this is an unsubtle long winded hint from a fellow Gemini ❤

Great work! You're very talented. Your discussion of the Central Park tangerine body stocking got me to thinking that it might be fun to dedicate a video to Diana's costumes that are not gowns. They're relatively rare, but there are some striking examples--the purple sequin catsuit; the Issey Miyake jumpsuit; the Motown 25 skirt and jacket; the Let's Go Up draped rayon (?) and gold lame knee length dress; the 90s man-tailored pantsuits; and others. I'm pleased you mentioned the cranberry velvet dirndl style gown. Am I correct to remember an identical one in forest green?

Oh wow, you have an eye for fashion. This is a great idea. I have been wanting tomato the yellow and orange jumpsuit for years. I just never found the right fabric for it . Let's go up ensemble I think is absolutely stunning. I have never seen the red velvet in green, whoever did you ever see the green bustier she wore to promote age perfume with Mugler? it was wild.

@@benhamouphilippe No, I don't think I saw that. I've always been a little in and out with her Mugler connection. Some of the outfits were too hard and structured for my taste and I don't think they flattered Diana. This was also the era that Madonna was collaborating with Gaultier, and I couldn't help but wonder how that would look for Diana. No cone bra for sure, but I think Gaultier has a lot of ideas. Maybe Dolce and Gabbana would've been best? You mentioned pleating fabrics before construction. I have heard that Issey Miyake pleated fabrics after the garment was made for his signature line, but used pre-pleated fabric for the Pleats Please line. I don't know what the purpose would be to pleat after, but I guess it creates a more perfect, couture silhouette? Like hand beading? I really love the Let's Go Up dress. I don't think she ever wore it again, and I have never heard who designed it, but it looks like something Norma Kamali would've made at that time.We did, however, see cross-body draping again in 1985 with the Statue of Liberty gown she wore on the Swept Away tour.
