Her effortless technique is timeless. Her dexterity and fluidity on the manuals, and her supple pedal technique is jaw-droppingly amazing. She makes it look so easy, which of course, it is not. She exudes joy and passion on the bench and it is infectious. She is so precise, yet her playing is alive, searching, probing, colorful, and touches the core of one's deepest soul. She is one of my very favorite organists.

Pipe organ music made me cry at its beauty when I was 5 And it still does at almost 65! I played pipe organ myself and it seemingly puts one in the presence of GOD Himself!! Amen😊

@nmp0627 That's what they call a "beauty shot". It's a shot of the organ facade filmed at a separate time, then in post production, the beauty shot is merged with the performance. This is done to enhance the music by showing other views instead of just a close up of the console all the time.

YesYesYoureRight - You tend to fund this with female organists (not church organists). I remember being at the Royal Albert Hall for the 60th Anniversary of the Royal School of Church Music which I sang Bass. Judith Weir played the Finale from Symphony No 1 by Vierne (great piece). Judith was dressed in a similar fashion. I think the reason it is so that they can play the organ without a flowing dress in the way eg you need to be able to use the pedals. Whilst a man would wear trousers what would a lady wear? Yes garish but I suspect for reasons of playing the organ these outfits are probably the best thing for a female organist to wear. In the UK the organist wears a cassock which can be flicked back over the organists seat. This is a variation on theme. But concert organists tend to be what is termed fireworks and this adds to the flare if but a bit old fashioned.

Having a fabulous afternoon here listening to Diane and other organists. Fascinated by the pedals taking over the melody there. Wonderful. There's another hymn tune 'Dear Lord and Father of Mankind'. I remember years ago singing this in a big church and the organist played some discordant chords on the words 'let sense be dumb' and wondered what was going on, but realised it was for effect - and what an effect. Before serenity took over again 'oh still small voice of calm.' There was also some sort of rumbling/tremolo work, but not sure if it was tremeloing on the usual octaves in the base, like on a piano. Any ideas what the organist would have done, please? Could Diane possibly do a version of this hymn tune please? Thanks. Gaius

playing a minor or major 2nd between two very low notes can generate a significant 'beating" as the nodes of the two proximate notes align and separate - especially with a large-scale flue pipe such as a bourdon; it's similar to the concept used to produce a resultant sub-octave ...
