No wonder Dr. Sowell is pessimistic about the future--he's been arguing against the winds of conventional wisdom for over 40 years. I would have given up trying long ago. Sad state of our world.

This is so sad. Almost 20 years later and nothing has changed. If you had told me that Sowell had recorded this interview in 2021, I wouldn’t have batted an eye. Our institutions are still failing our students in the exact same ways sowell points out here.

Sowell has been right about a great many things, a great many years ahead of time. Pretty sad state of affairs when one thinks about it.

Thanks for the upload! Absolutely phenomenal to go back in time and listen to Sowell before today's further capitalization of polarized politics and economic mismoners that follow.

Exactly same as in Los Angeles, they spend billions of dollars for homelessness and its still doesn't change a bit. Why- they spend money to create burocracy and offices instead of actual help for homeless

Read his autobiography he wrote 30 years ago. He was a real firebrand. I miss the Diane Rehm show, she was left leaning but stayed toward the middle. The 1A show is full left.

I love Dr. Sowell’s insights, but mostly I miss Diane Rehm’s voice and willingness to allow her guests to tell their stories. NPR used to be a place that respected all thoughtful ideas. Public broadcasting lost so much in terms of intellectual depth when Diane Rehm retired and Charlie Rose was forced out.

Just because you feel strongly about something don't mean that you will think the same about it when the feeling goes away! Then what? Most decisions that are regretted, are normally 70/30 of the time using their feeling to 🤔 think! 70% feeling, 30 % thought! 70 % decisions , 30% gosh I wish I would have ????

The "experts" who came up with all this need to use plain old common sense.

No. The experts need to be imprisoned for causing generations of people living in poverty.

In the 90's before there was KZbin or Fox News, and when all the t.v. media networks were dominated by Liberal ideology, CSPAN was the only place a Conservative could go. Well C-Span and talk radio. Brian Lamb who ran C-Span did the best job of being politically objective and giving time to both Conservative and Liberal opinions that I've ever seen.
