Overachiever this week, because every suggestion you have I already did this past week -- well, right now I am having a pedicure after a week long vacation in Maui, While I was there, I ate breakfast everyday outside; and now that I returned home, will pull out our porch furniture to eat outside whenever possible. I enjoy listening to the birds (sometimes eagles) and see the bugs, butterflies and blooms. As for volunteering, while I was on vacation I volunteered at a free donation center for the victims of the Lahaina wildfires (in August 2023). I sorted, merchandised and helped anyone who came into the store looking for items. The people who have been doing this since August are amazing and were so grateful I took 2 hours of my vacation to volunteer. My heart was full. I just bought tickets to see Harry Conick Jr. at an outdoor winery concert. I barely listen or know his music so I am hoping to enjoy something new.

Dear Diane, My three year old and i went to the library today to pick up some new reads for the weekend. We both love it there and go every week. Regarding the subject of 10 minutes: Especially as a working mom with lots of volunteering tasks in church, kindergarten and beyond, the 10 minute chunks are soooo valuable. Progress over perfection. I would feel absolutely defeated, if i had to do it all and spend hours and hours. By the way: i made your over night bread-rolls again. This has become a beloved Friday night tradition. When the Little One is asleep, i clean up the kitchen, shine my sink and prepare the rolls for Saturday morning. I start the dishwasher and when i hear the water stream into the machine i know: the week-end is here :) pure self-care right there. See you Monday and feel better soon. Love from Germany, jule

Diane, you made a comment which was really freeing for me in my cleaning/declutter journey. You said “I do these things for me.” And that’s exactly what it needs to be for me - focusing on the type of organized home environment I enjoy and not worrying too much if the rest of the household are “pulling their own weight” so to speak. Because really I quite enjoy cleaning when I get to it and am thankful my husband has a high tolerance when we dont. And when he is in the cleaning mood, he cleans sometimes too in his own way and style. So that is a good reminder that at the end of the day, I am really doing it for myself actually. :)

I hope you get better soon 🤞🏽 For Camilla, for years in Spain it might have been women doing everything and men would be the ones working out. For quite a few years now it's different. In our home ( I'm 58, my husband is 65 now retired and empty nesters ) my husband usually cooks and does the shopping, we both do house chores some each of us always do, others we take in turns. When my daughter lived at home she had to take care of her room, hoover the house some days a week, not leave things everywhere, put her dirty clothes in the laundry basket, put her clothes away when they were clean, she also made and cleared up her breakfast and dinner ( the big meal is at midday here) hope that answered your question 😅. Talking about books I recommend Atomic Habits by James Clear. It reminded me of your 5 to 10 minutes timer. Happy birthday Sue! 🎉 Well done Diana!!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽 Have a great weekend xx

Thank you for your answer. I`m just curious. I`m exactly your age, and my husband too. We also take turns in the house work. It`s just that when I watch videos in this category (I like them) I get the impression that the women does all the work in their home. Of course I respect that their family is not in the films, but I don`t often hear for example ”We take turns fixing the zink in the evening” or things like that. That is why I wonder. I hope I didn`t hurt anyones feelings, I didn`t mean to. I`m glad to hear about you and your husband. Thank you for taking time to answer!

I had relatives arriving within hours of his hospitalization and because of the flylady system every thing in my house, guest room etc… was company ready. He was in hospital for 5 days before he passed and I can’t tell you how much the routine helped me. I plan to use the system to go through his items as I’m up to it and I will just be kind to myself, as I navigate my new normal. Thank you. Lynette Kipp Royal Oak Michigan USA

Happy Friday! I always take my lunch and a book onto my patio to enjoy. I also always close my eyes for a quick nap. I love napping outside. For Mother’s Day, I always request my son to write a short letter highlighting a favorite memory of his childhood. I like this activity because he has to think a bit, write and also it increases his appreciation of his parents. And the letters make a nice collection for mom. My husband also did this activity the last few years of his mom’s life (and sadly, his own) and it’s now given us a short peek into family history that otherwise could have been lost. Enjoy your weekend.🌸

Mother's day has already gone over here. I not only use Flylady zones in the house but have divided my garden into 5 zones too which works well although I sometimes have to dodge the rain!!! This week will try to do all the challenges except #2, I loathe eating outdoors but if it stops raining long enough will definitely take my coffee out into the garden and listen to the sparrows squabbling. as always, thanks for the inspiration and the boot up the bahookie on occasions.

Start by removing any trash/recycle from the most visible area seen by guests upon entering your home. Then remove any items that are obvious donations. Next return any items that belong elsewhere in your home.

Also, place like items together to make it easier to find things and determine what things to donate/recycle. Do small chunks at a time to prevent burnout.
