Alas, I’ve been struggling with my chronic back pain but I’m starting some treatment today so I’m hopeful! My DH has been watching me set up a Control Journal and making our bed, getting dressed to shoes etc. and he’s actually been getting into the idea of it. He’s actually been putting away the dishes and polishing the sink the last few days so it looks like I have a Flydaddy partner now! LOL! PS Your videos have become part of my morning routine! 💝🦋

I start the FlyLady program and then stop. It is so hard to be consistent. This video was great. I think I expect too much of myself. I always feel overwhelmed by all that needs to be done...and I do want to get it done. It is time for me to go back to basics with my morning and evening routines and see if I can do that consistently. Thank you!

Thank you again.... You are so helpful. I have been 'Flying' with you for over a year now, and doing pretty well. Good thing, because we will be moving this year! As I start my "Swedish death cleaning", I am finding that almost every cupboard and drawer has already been decluttered, so my job is half done! We will be down-sizing to the home we plan to retire in, and husband will be staying here in an apartment for a while, until he decides to officially retire. LOTS of complications to work through, but with my routines, I'm working along and making progress every day!

something that really helped me from things that you say in your video is about don't do your zone work if you're not doing your routines. And then you made another comment about don't lose your zone work if you're not doing your weekly home blessing hour. I have chronic health problems and sometimes get feeling down about that as well. And I will start to do something and then I'll be in pain so I'll go sit down and then I forget to go back to it again. And I found myself this last autumn only doing zone cleaning and not doing the rest. I remember a day in December when I had finally gotten through all of my drawers to clean them in the kitchen and looked around in my living room kitchen space and it was a disaster. That is how I used to be before I fall flylady years ago. I have reverted back to my old ways. I absolutely can't stand the 31 baby steps they drive me crazy so I didn't do them and I'm not going to do them. but I made the decision that I'm not doing any zone cleaning until my morning and evening routine and my weekly home blessing hour become routine for me again. That doesn't mean that I never clean out the refrigerator or deep clean my bathroom. it just means that I need to have done my routines that day and my weekly home blessing hour before I deep clean my bathroom or clean out my refrigerator. And that way of thinking has made a big difference for me. Yesterday I finished the deep clean of my bathroom and it felt like such a great accomplishment because my kitchen was in order my living space was mostly in order. For me being too rigid and having too much of a list that I have to do drives me crazy and doesn't work for me personally. But routines make a big difference. I guess that's the big message I want to put out there to anyone else who might be struggling is that you could make the flylady system work for you. Because when you have a routine you don't necessarily have to follow a list. There are just some things that I know must be done before I do other things. And that makes such a difference for me.

S Rose I agree, do what you can do when you can do it. I focus on my kitchen and bathrooms first because those are the two places I think are most important to be clean. I don’t have littles anymore either, so I keep stuff for cleaning each bathroom and the kitchen under the sinks. If I am having a good day, I do more. But having the stuff handy to clean those areas when I in there makes me less likely to procrastinate.
@dloveofgod8269

Wishing you the best S Rose. I have physical limitations & health challenges. My morning & evening routines look a little different. Some days I have what I call mini routines as due to breathing issues and pain only do what's absolutely necessary (such as feeding & walking the dog). The great thing about fly lady system brought forth by Diane is that we can customize. No guilt for health issues or other circumstances. I can't stand to see things out of place but have learned to do what I can & my wellness is the priority. Have to take care of yourself first. The daily routines or even mini routines for me are great so the weekly blessings are so much easier and zone cleaning. We're all different and unique here and customize to our needs, preferences, priorities and our homes . Diane's is lovely & she's a joy cheering us on. Rah rah, rah ! 🙆‍♀️

I was with you on hating the 31 steps until i watched Diane's videos for the baby steps. I'm not sure if flylady changed them over the years or if Diane adapted them to make more sense but i am trying them over again because i liked this way much better. I also understamd now that they are ridiculously slow paced to build the routines.

We are such big believers in routines - sometimes they will have to be adjusted - but it certainly makes for less stress. This morning I have finally got around to mending a pair of my husband's trousers - waist band was coming off - and moving the neck button on my son's shirt (getting a bit tight) - took me less than 10 mins!! Love the flylady system and your explanation of it. Lorna

Loving this weeks videos. I started Flylady last September. Although I managed the morning and evening routines I didn't really understand zone cleaning and weekly home blessing hour, so there was some overkill with cleaning. Watching your videos has helped me to understand how it works stop that overkill. Its taken a while to get to this point but boy it feels good. Even the hubby is on board (to a fashion). He's taking on the oven today so that is one less job in the zone for me.. Also both me and the dog have been moving in May by taking longer walks.. GO US!!

Would you consider doing a video of tips for us who are learning to be more environmentally friendly with options of how you package food/lunches? Thanks for a great video Diane. The thing that has helped me most in the clutter fight is the "One in One Out " rule. If I get something new something has to go out of the house. It doesn"t have to be the same type of item necessarily but something has to go. For me this stops the accumulation of stuff that becomes clutter. New tea towel in, old one out! Bye bye!

SO - two things happened yesterday. First something amazing.- Now that my nightly routine includes shining my black granite counters - when my husband dropped some crumbs yesterday morning - he cleaned them up immediately :). The other was that the mission for cleaning my refrigerator stressed me out so much - since I normally only do it once a year. After about 7 minutes cleaning the inside I had to stop. But I them moved to shining the front and dusting off the top *YUCK*) I wasn't happy with myself - but when I came down stairs this morning to a shiny Fridge it made me feel so much better.

hi diane, thanks again for being such a great inspiration. the fly lady system has helped me tremendously in the zone part. i ve been constant with my routines since i was a teenager, so i never had a problem in that area. what i really dreaded was the detail cleaning, and when i say detail i mean it! i would do that twice a year and when it was over, i would be as if i walked around the earth in 80 minutes, lol! with the fly lady system, if i am constant with it, i dont need to burn myself out twice a year anymore. now, what i find really hard though, is getting back on track when something unexpected has happened, like an illness, or some kind of event that has lasted many days, or a long visit from a relative. i wish there was some way to overcome that feeling of loosing my path. its the only thing that i cant seem to manage very well. can you think of a way? does that ever happen to you? if yes, how do you overcome it? thanks again, and keep on inspiring us!

"CHAOS to Clean: in 31 Easy BabySteps " by Marla Cilly is currently free on Kindle Unlimited. I am reading it a chapter (or two) a day. Your gran's necklace looks great on you. Off to clean the halogen oven, it mostly does itself (it has a cleaning setting), but I always put it off.... ;)

Just put my daily load of laundry in the dryer. I have an aversion to laundry hampers. Dirty bath towels, underwear/clothes are a MAGNET for vermin because they are attracted to shedded skin, sweat/body fluids, etc. A hamper of dirty laundry is a buffet for them - gross but true. I live in the Southeastern U.S. and don't see any bugs in my apt. except for the occasional teeny spider that comes in after a rain. I use (nontoxic to humans/pets) Food Grade Diamotaceous Earth (DE) for bug control. I only have my coffee pot on the kitchen counter (washed out daily) and clean/wipe down counters whenever I cook, make a sandwich for my lunch, etc. so no crumbs to attract bugs. I wipe down appliances daily and clean/sanitize bathrooms daily. I clean/sanitize my 2 cats' food mats and wipe down baseboard in their feeding area because, although they are fastidious in their personal grooming, they're both slobby eaters (🐱🐱!!) Today's "big chore" is I'm dusting the crown molding, overhead fans and baseboards at lunchtime. I work from home now and love that I can squeeze in cleaning chores during the day. I personally can't think/function in a messy environment. Like you say, consistency is the key. With pets, I vacuum and damp mop daily. I purge closets monthly and last fall donated most of my work suits. I wipe down inside fridge/kitchen cabinets weekly before I do grocery shopping. I Konmari towels, t'shirts, panties, socks, etc. Love the bright white/butcher block top Danish/German designed cabinets. My daughter and I stayed in an Airbnb in Lervgravsparken with the same type cabinets. They are so well-made/designed with deep drawers, and the cabinets are easy to wipe clean. I wish I had them here!
