Paul never got any credit for maidens success he was just as talented as Bruce but steve promoted the band real hard when he hired Bruce part of the reason they soared if Paul had kept his act clean he had the talent to take maiden to the top

I wish this album would get reissued. I still have my original copy from 1985, but it's seen better days and the vinyl is very thin. A new, 180 gram remaster would be great, along with the rest of his catalog including Battlezone and Killers.

I will say mark love paul as a musician yes killers and iron maiden are perfection but I do love number of the beast ive read some of pauls book he's been a real prick in his life some of its kinda disturbing just an observation I saw him with battlezone in 1991 at harpos in Detroit he was in great form

@@m42037 well paul in his prime was the better singer I do love Bruce's voice too but he's always struck me as snobbish I was devastated when clive was fired steve really messed up but as paul said it was Steve's band and its all about money to steve unfortunately pauls health is bad and you'll probably never see him perform again but he deserves more credit than he got from maiden because the first 2 albums had no fillers not an easy accomplishment

@@edwardbennett7813 My memory serves me I'm short of 56 so forgive me. Paul was partying so much his voice even suffered later after Killers. Listen to Paul on "Maiden Japan," He admitted it that he blew it drinking too much. But I agree Steve was a dickhead back then (Paul once called him a "Hitler") I think a 0 tolerance attitude was bs after the two great record's with Paul. Killers btw is my favourite record following the 1st then # with Bruce. Clive, I never got the real reason he was asked to leave, in interview's Clive is too humble to tell millions of fans why he REALLY was asked to leave. One I got was his father died and Clive wanted time off to spend with family and Steve said no. The rumours that Clive was a drunk and had a puke bucket next to his drums is hogwash I never seen a song (as a drummer since the mid 80s) that Clive skipped a beat live in 1982 on the Beast tour. Not one!

I followed Dianno all his carreer after IM, saw him once, shook his hand, bought almost everything from Battlezone to Killers to the numberous re-recording of the maiden stuff. This is certainly not Heavy Metal guys. He sufferred a major set back following this record (in his biography, it is described as a very sad moment for Dianno and the author knew he would be back). This sounds exactly like a cheap Loverboy - Survivor albums with Music made for 80' movie. After this, he had the first battlezone, a decent album that suffered from horrible production (but with some awesome music that we more in his field). How could a punk metal guy start a solo career this way, it is beyond understanding for me.

Maybe trauma of being replaced by Bruce? Not easy.. I think it's great that he stood up and went on singing. He still does, great achievement!

People need to try a new things. Anti nowhere league,who were really punks ,also have moments like this in their career,but than return to punk style. I am big fan of Paul Di Anno. He is my favorite maiden's vocal and i like his music , i understand his music and his career, but i can not understand iron maiden who play the same things over and over again.

There has to be a difference if you leave a band rather than being fired. If you leave, it means you a thinking about future music, but if you're fired, it has taken you by surprise so you might be ready to produce new music yet. So, Paul Dianno falls into the second group and it took some time for him to find who he was in the music biz, hence why he has started and fronted so many different bands.
@hochseeschwalbe86112 жыл бұрын
He was fired for good reasons - not so much surprisingly. If you are a group on tour and your are forced to cancel your shows, because your frontman is drunken ore stoned - not so cool. Iron Maiden had no choice. I's a pity, he is a great vocalist. I don't like this album so much, but I love "Feel my pain" or"Killers Murder One", because it's really Heavy Metal. Bruce Dickingson is a great vocalist, but actually they are drifting in a very "opera-style" direction. So there a moments, when I really prefere Paul.
