Chinese are very family conscious. When i lived in China I gave my girlfriend money every month and made sure she had enough to give her mother (who was separated from her father) and her grandparents money. I also met all of her family - uncles and aunts etc. I never got to really meet my grandparents as only one was alive during my life time and he was in in his late nineties to one hundred.

I don’t think she is using different cultural influences when making a dish from avocados. She is just making use of whatever ingredients she has and tailoring it to her family’s tastes. Guacamole is basically a Mexican dish, but I’m sure they also have a name for the dish that she made.

Love this one, just as much as all the others! I love it when your Grandma is having fun! My paternal Grandmother, MawMaw Plant, was like that. She would be silly and make us laugh. I miss her. My avocado tree stopped bearing fruit long ago and got sick so it really can't have fruits anymore. Plus the leaves were getting into our neighbor's roof and backyard--it had to go. I miss eating the fresh fruits from it but I was still quite young back then, still the memories are fresh in my mind
