My main takeaway is that almost every character is easy to (ge to) master lol. I'd love some kinda series where you play against people that actually know how to play the game and evaluate big the difference is to "normal" players. I'd imagine some characters are a lot more stable while others fall off quickly against people that know how to deal with the gimmicks.

i’ve been burned out on this game for months and i’ve barely played it lately, but this video is actually kind of inspirational lol. there are a few characters i still haven’t gotten to master that i want to rank up. i have a real problem with picking mains in all of the games that i play, but i’m not good enough to be able to play them all at this high of a level. i feel like i’ve learned a decent amount from playing different characters, but it has come at the consequence of plateauing at a lower level of fundamental skill, which is something that i feel like i’ll only be able to correct with commitment to one or two characters, at least for now. i’m not interested in playing most of the characters in this game, but i aspire to be good enough to play at least four or five of them proficiently (ed, terry, aki, jamie), especially once some more interesting dlc characters come out.

It might just feel easier since the bar for making masters means being in the top 12% of the playerbase, where as for GG the bar for celestial is closer to the top 6% of the playerbase per RU back when it still showed % of players per floor. Master rank would probably be more akin to making it to floor 10.5 in GG, where you've practiced running your character's gimmick, and now have to learn everyone else's.

Congrats, & thanks for all that info. I like having a main & at least two subs, however small the roster in a game. Haven't got to play ranked much since starting some months ago, & went from Iron to Silver using Honda. Watched all the guides, top players, the Wiki info, & do training. Hope to go higher w/him, depending how it goes. Then maybe try a sub in ranked placement. Good point on Strive (another game I play) vs SF6. Fun vid. 🙂

I think most people who go for multiple master characters are just too afraid/bad to play in mr. they know the game gets hard from there so they go back to beating up lower level players. there is a reason why most master players are unranked after hitting it once

20/24 complete. Just missing Dhalsim, Honda, Lily, and Zangief! Learn your anti air, one meterless combo, one corner carry combo, and one punish counter combo, and then you’re good. Absolutely no need to deep dive into a character to get them to master unless you really want to or you’re struggling to hit master even on comfortable characters.

GoD is not the same as reaching Master. The Tekken equivalent would be getting a character to around Bushin - Tekken King. Or reversely, getting everyone to GoD would be the same as reaching 2000+ mr in Street Fighter with every character.

I kinda disagree about Marisa being easy or scrubby, at least in practice. You're very likely to go against Ken and Cammy when playing higher MMR ranked, and those particular match ups require so much thought about spacing and not getting completely swept up in a storm of lights. When Marisa gets going, it can be fairly straight forward and simple, but actually getting your turn without getting stuffed or completely shut down requires a fair bit of patience and thought.

she’s easy because she’s good against bad players and harder to play against good players. i struggled with her when i was in silver/gold before i figured out i can just fish for parries and interrupt her target combo blockstring. she relies on a lot of gimmicks to be strong which is why she isn’t as consistent in higher levels of gameplay. i like her but i wish she had more depth tbh

@ I agree, and not to sound gatekeepy, but the game kinda doesn’t begin until a certain MMR level. That’s what I meant by “in practice.” At a real skill level where both players know enough to really experience the full game, Marisa isn’t easy or even viable, in my opinion. She has to put in way more effort to make an opening and think more carefully about what moves she does. That’s just my opinion though, I’m not an expert.

You know something I'm just gonna straight say this as a person that's been using Ryu for almost 20 years he is definitely not cheap and he is definitely not easy to win with online. All the things that you listed are just wrong. You can't just do his 10 frame fierce because it's slow and everyone will just out poke you. You can't just do his donkey kick because people perfect parry it like a robot, di it, or jump it too because it's so slow. You can't just cancel into heavy hashogeki either. Haven't you seen how the stats have fallen off since release? Almost nobody you play in this game is under Master skill level.

Master rank used to be around 3-4% now it's about 14% of players but that's because it's been adjusted to active/concurrent players. So almost everyone that still plays this game is on master level. You cannot go into Battle Hub and find anybody in there that isn't Master. If you do, they are clearly a Smurf where their profile says they've only played for an hour but they just sat there and got you in an anti drive reversal OS or performed Rashids 1 frame or some crazy shit.
