OMG people, this is a TECHNIQUE! It’s used by therapists and they teach this TECHNIQUE to clients with anxiety disorders, and PTSD. It can be used to manage pain or to cope with difficult feelings, stress, and irritating situations such as reading KZbin comments, too. Your brain takes care of your breathing rhythm and does it without our conscious knowledge. Diaphragmatic breathing is done with your conscious effort and it signals to the more reptilian part of our brain that it is safe to proceed and it helps the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems reset and find homeostasis. It helps to correct the oxygen balance and carbon dioxide levels that have turned your blood alkaline back to a balanced pH and a sense of well being. It tells your body to turn off the fight or flight response.
@aaronfarkas68905 жыл бұрын
Natalie McBroom ...Great and sensible comments...having said that, Natalie, I was intrigued by your last comment... something about your blood becoming alkaline during a fight, flight , freeze response...what evidence can you link me up with that supports your statement? Please don’t misunderstand me...I’m not saying that you’re wrong. but maybe simply incorrect. 🙏✌️
@tryingtobarefruitinoldage98785 жыл бұрын
@@aaronfarkas6890 I see you didn't get an answer. So I'll try. I don't have an address for you, with what you asked, but you could find one with a small search on stress and cortisol. An anxiety attack causes stress, stress causes cortisol. Cortisol makes us fat, fat causes inflammation and inflammation is acidic. This is just how i think about it I'm just learning because I just started to get fat 😨😱. Hope you got an answer. Cheers ☺️

Baby Bunny, Ha ha, I didn't get the reptilian part lol. Some one might come and explain that. I lission to most you tube on fast forward and only slow down if something catches my attention. There is just not enough time to give my full attention. Your replay is kind of like getting caught with my pants down. LOL 😜🤣 You said it right reptilian what! I think I heard that these extraterrestrial beings lizard people are responsible for the human race or interbread with our ancestors. Something like that. That is part of the reason I lesion on FF take what I want and try to remember to run (if it is true or scarier) if I have to. 😉
@zeksy15 жыл бұрын
With shallow breathing your co2 and 02 levels are out of whack which makes your blood more acidic ( you missread what she wrote) and diaphragmic breathing corrects those levels and brings your plod ph back to around 7,35 / 7,45 so back to more alkanine state. -With reptilian brain, she probably just mean primal brain, part of our brain that is not modernized but wild. which with shalow breathing makes us stressed and out primal brain think we are not safe, even if our stressors are just job related or bad traffic to the way home, your primal brain does not understand that that does not represents any danger to us, it just acts as if it is dangerous to us so it turns off most of the functions but what is needed for survival. - deep breathing helps us because while deep inhalation sar's ( slow adapting stretch receptors, with help of vagus nerve) slow down sympatetic nervous system ( gas function) and while exhalation it encourages parasympatetic nervous system ( break, relax function). that does not stop sympatetic system but brings them in the right balance. away from always being stressed to being more grounded so you are not always under influence of cortisol as was already said. Thats why it is beneficial to have exhalation window longer than inhalation window, with short break between exhalation and new inhalation.

Thanks for the video! Quick question: I suffer from REALLY bad panic attacks so I'm curious how fast would this technique take to stop or reverse a panic attack? Thank you!
@Markcallan10007 жыл бұрын
so many of these breathing videos advocate breathing out through the mouth.If you do that you will get worse panic /anxiety because you lose CO2 faster through the mouth.CO2 is a calmer of the nervous system.People with panic attacks traditionally breathed into a paper bag to calm down.This would restore CO2 level as you would breath it back in.So sad that these videos don't teach people this.Exercise raises CO2 as long as you nose breathe while exercising.CO2 is also a relaxant of smooth muscle in the body which makes it easier to switch to diaphragmatic breathing.

I told the doctor I had trouble breathing while doing a variety of tasks. She sent me to a pulmonologist. Hmm, do you have air in your lungs? Yes. Okay, sleep apnea test. Oh, you have moderate sleep apnea. CPAP time. Took that back the next day. Doctor (PCP) suggested chair yoga. 🤣 i went to a holistic chiropractor. Okay, my spine is not perfect. I get a bunch of various vibrators on my back. No help. I told my PCP several times where my breathing issues are coming from. So, i had to Google for myself the symptoms of my diaphragm vs breathing. BINGO. Now, i need to get on the bandwagon of learning to breath using my diaphragm. I know how to use my diaphragm to stop hiccups. So lets see how this helps. 🙏

Correct breathing is not as simple as making your belly rise and fall. If you're sitting, you are limiting the diaphragm to expand, creating short shallow breathing. If you're lying on your back, you're not training your core to fully brace, again, limiting the air. The proper way is to stand up on your feet, squeeze your abdominals and tighten your glutes. This lines up your spine on a straight line from neck to pelvis, giving the diaphragm muscle full range to function. Furthermore, the proper breathing is not through your stomach. When you take in a breath of air, you should see your chest expand (that is where your lungs are located, after all). If your chest is tight, it makes this expansion difficult. That's how you end up with too much belly.Training your core to be braced is how you maintain a solid posture. When you run, or move in general, your core is braced, and the diaphragm is working to push the air up. There is research showing that "belly breathing" is short and triggers anxiety.
