Diarbbitmon VS BlackMegaGargomon!! | Digimon Card Game: RB-01 vs EX-04 Rise of Alters (ROUND 1)

This is Round 1 of Rise of Alters, a team battle featuring 4 decks each from the two latest sets in the Digimon Card Game: RB-01 Rising Wind (a Reboot Booster or reprint set) and EX-04 Alternative Being (a Theme Booster). The first round will be a clash between Green Beasts - Diarbbitmon from Ghost Game and BlackMegaGargomon. The Green Diarbbitmon deck freely manipulates Memory and suspension to generate powerful consecutive blows that cripple the opponent's field while inflicting damage, all while protecting their player with a versatile mix of offence and defence. On the other hand, the multicoloured but primarily Green BlackMegaGargomon deck revolves around the new 'Alliance' mechanic which, in a similar vein, utilises a suite of offensive and defence strategies to decisively bring down the opponent with minimal risk. But in this battle, there can only be 1 winner. Which balanced fighter will prove superior? The humble knight who protects? Or the heartless machine who invades?

IMPORTANT RULE CLARIFICATION: At 09:22, Diarbbit declares an attack on Lopmon with its [End of Your Turn] effect. However, because the Digimon played by 'Henry & Suzie Wong' is deleted "at the end of your opponent's turn", Lopmon should trigger at this timing as well and self-delete before the battle resolves - I didn't even notice!. As a result, Diarbbit won't be able to inflict damage with Lamort's inheritable or . In a nutshell, the Alliance deck counters Diarbbit even more than I imagined and BMG should have stomped even harder. However, I will be keeping the video as is but add this information in the pinned comment so viewers don't get the wrong idea. (Credits to Nova Akasha for pointing this out, thanks!) In RISE OF ALTERS, the Ghost Game gang must help clear a path through the Alter Tamers to allow Ai & Beelze X to reach Analogman. We're starting with a pretty fun Green on Green match up. Being able to optionally unsuspend in response to any attack, BlackMegaGargo is one of the few cards in the game that can outright counter the new Angora line's mechanic. Yet, this 'counter' isn't one that guarantees victory, but rather inhibits Diarbbit from unleashing its true potential, slowing it down. During playtesting, both decks were often forced into stalemates like the one in this video, and the outcome often boiled down to the luck factor of which lower stages both bosses evolved through. However, I got the sense that Diarbbit will gain an edge over this matchup with their incoming BT-13 support. Up next, Kiyoshiro and Amphimon will take the stage! Who will their opponent be? You'll just have to find out!

In which game state does the delete happen? Do you declare your attack and then in the reaction window of your opponent the Lopmon is deleted? Or is it deleted after your effect triggers and before you declare the attack?

@MrMcYoldas Treating it as an effect, it should resolve after the turn player resolves all their [End of Turn] effects. So Diarbbit attacks -> resolves all [On Attack] timing effects -> Ruli activates to unsuspend Diarbbit -> Lopmon self-deletes -> battle resolves

Does this also mean, in a separate instance, that the BMG + buff wears off before a Digimon even gets to suspend in order to (or rather, trigger )?

@@GwynoftheMist I don't think so. BMG's buff is phrased as 'until', so it should last until the other player's turn effectively ends. Henry Suzie's effect is phrased as 'when', so it occurs at the first possible timing.

I need to verify it, but if I'm not wrong, the effect of Henry&Suzie is not "until next end..." but an "At the end...", that should have the same timing as the opponent's "End of Your Turn", so : When diarbbitmon evolved and resolved its "When digivolving" followed by BMG's "All Turns", the memory was at 2 on the opponent's side, which beginning the "end of turn", triggered the effects of diarbbitmon, Ruli and lopmon(Henry&suzie). in order of priority, when activating Diarbbitmon's effect, you declare an attack on lopmon, you resolve when attacking, then you resolve Ruli and finally, before proceeding with the combat, you should resolve lopmon's effect, deleting it causing the attack to end because there is no longer a target. Therefore, the piercing conditions and the source of lamortmon cannot be met.

Fun match-up. Even though he's an evil clone in the lore of these videos, I'm rather glad the Alliance deck won. I'm always rooting the the deck with the more interesting play style and gameplay, even outside tournament series; and Henry's been the first deck in a while to escape the Green tritagonist curse of all being ever-so-slight variations of the generic color deck. Poor Yoshi; we just got her new Rosemon and it looks like the curse took her Digi-Burst gimmick.

Hey rust I didn't understand why, at 09:42, Diarbittmon (14k DP) couldn't attack BMegagargomon (13k DP) could you explain why please?

1. When Diarbbit attacks BMG, he resolves his [On Attack] suspend (turn player effects must resolve first) 2. After that, BMG can activate his optional [All Turns] unsuspend 3. So Diarbbit and BMG will fight while BMG is unsuspended. This means Diarbbit's inheritables won't activate so he will be back 12k and lose the battle

Sorry to ask for a double check here, but is that a misplay when you use RB1 Ruli's effect to lower the cost of Diarbbitmon? He is classed as Beastkin and not Beast, Animal or Four Sovereigns. Just wanted to check as I was going to use a similar play against a friend of mine on TTS and saw the card text realising that Beast and Beastkin are separate. Is this not the case or is Ruli's translation at the moment not accurate? Either way, great vid as always!

First of all, it should be 'Beast Knight' not 'Beastkin' - Digimoncarddev made a translation error. Second, Ruli's effect is phrased as 'in one of its traits'. This means it doesn't need to be exactly Beast, but anything with Beast inside ie 'Beastkin', 'Beast Knight' etc. This is a new phrasing that started around EX-03

Not yet, lorewise this tournament is about the Ghost Game gang clearing a way through the Alter Tamers (Analogman's minions created by hacking the D-Ark) so that Beelze X can reach Analogman

I'm pretty sure angoromon wins at 12:08. Diarbbitmon attacks and trashes the top security and then piercing goes through the terriermon for the win. I think it was gg no matter what for BGM at that last security unless they could delete that Diarbittmon.

Well the key here is that checks only apply to Security and do nothing when the opponent is at 0 Security

I get the whole security attack +x can't win the game, but if they have no security left I feel like piercing should still win. Just makes it more confusing

So long as you are able to somehow not be supspended when diarbbitmon goes on the offensive he becomes rather average. Funny i have seen a few videos where he just runs all over the opponent with those DP boost inheritables and multiple memory gains but it's all tied to the opponent being suspended. Black and especially this black megagargomon here shut alot of that down. It happens, nobody wins all the matchups.

Bit of language advice: You don't pronounce the "a" in Diarbbitmon's name. Even disregarding that it's spelled ディルビットモン (pronounced dirubittomon, with the double tt denoting a quick, less than a half second pause before starting the t noise), his name is based on Diarmuid Diarmuid Ua Duibhne, which is pronounced Deermood Oh Dyna, because Celtic transliteration is full of shit and devised by people higher than the international space station.
