GreyKnightsmon VS ShadowSeraphimon!! | Digimon Card Game: EX4 Alternative Being

This is a fun match between 2 decks I have yet to feature from EX4 Alternative Being: GreyKnightsmon and ShadowSeraphimon. The Blue/Black GreyKnightsmon deck combines elements of both Blue Flare and Twilight to whittle down the opponent with aggressive Rush plays while controlling the field sufficiently to ensure their own survival. On the other hand, the ShadowSeraphimon deck is based on Security control with plenty of Recovery and field control from DP minus and De-Digivolution. Which alter villain will claim this throne!?

Finally had the chance to feature these 2 decks from EX4! So GreyKnights can be a bit clunky, but honestly even with the Twilight stuff mixed in, the deck doesn't find difficulty in snatching wins using its Blue Flare bottom end alone. I think the star of the show really is the new Kiriha & Nene Tamer which does so much for the Blue Flare half, greatly boosting consistency by allowing you to use materials that have unluckily ended up in the Trash. Easy access to Jamming via MailBirdra is also a really powerful tool for maintaining field presence and consecutive attacks. What I found particularly delightful was the combo of trashing the opponent's stack with EX4 MetalGrey before getting easy removal via De-Digivolution from the Twillight half of the deck. On the other hand, my Security control build for ShadowSeraphi cannot be considered competitively optimal. I took inspiration from tournament-winning recipes but ultimately modified it to my own tastes - especially when I realised I could pull off Alter-B with the deck HAHA. That made me tempted to theme the build around EX4 and include a taste of Renamon as a throwback to Blue Flare's defeat at Sakuyamon's hands in the BT10 tournament. Despite it perhaps not being the best Security control build (I guess Mother + Gatekeeper and a truckload of removal Options is the way to go), I did find the deck to be rather functional during playtesting. Well, functional enough for me haha.

Not bad stuff. Frankly, I like that these two got the highlight. Although, NGL, I was expecting the Shadowseraphimon deck that had Gatomon, Ophanimon fm and Wisemon.

The Alter B play was telegraphed a few turns before you did the finish, but I wasn't sure how you would get 3 materials for the [When Attacking]. But then you actually played the Zwart Defeat and it really clicked for me. What a spicy game finisher and really synergetic security control deck. My local is going to love it! :D

Well this is an interesting match up, I suprised you used the Renamon line instead of blue Pata and Ange. I actually also use that Omni combo a but differently. Stack some level 6's with Rafflesimons and then go into Merciful Mode to clear out all opposing digimon then return their cards so that it minimizes them recycling from the trash. (Some yummy cost reductions from Taiga and green shenanigans) Awesome video as always, Rust!

I swear this is completely impossible, I play darkknightmon with 4 security dorumon since the day they came out and I've got to activate them like 5 times since then, how can you activate two security coredramon like that, it's illegal! Jokes aside, really really great duel, while I would normally root for anything containing darkknightmon, that shadowseraphimon deck was crazy cool, especially the zwart defeat into alter B combo!

At first, I felt strange with the last-turn attack order since if making greyknights be the last attacker it would be 100% save since even it got destroyed the new metalgrey would come out for free to end the game but when you show the time rewind now I understand why LOL.

Hello @rustmarrow, I have question about ruling of Examon EX3 and Slayerdramon EX3. If I use the effect of Slayerdramon to force my opponent to attack. I suspend examon for the effect and it says that when examon is suspended, unsuspend it, then suspend 1 of your opponent digimon. If i use the effect of slayerdramon to suspend examon, will examon unsuspend or stay suspended until the opponent attack to finish their attack and then unsuspend examon? Or examon will unsuspend before the opponent attacks? I’m quite confused about how these cards works together. Would you mind explaining it for me, please?

Slayerdramons effect must be resolved in full first. So you suspend Exa, then the opponent is forced to attack (they can now choose to attack the suspended Exa). AFTER the attack declaration, Exa triggers to unsuspend itself and suspend 1 opposing Digimon. AFTER that, the battle resolves

Unfortunately not a great matchup for the shadow seraphimon deck since dedigivolving isn’t super effective against digi xros decks. Great to see it in gameplay though! Can’t wait for some alter S gameplay

@@eeefe972 dedigivolve a digixros like metalgreymon back into a greymon, they can just use it for digixrosing again. They also don’t build huge stacks with crazy effects, usually just mid level digi’s so it isn’t as impactful to dedigivolve their high end

@@xero1048 That's mostly just really Blue Flare, Xros Heart hates it a lot more because they often make larger DigiXros stacks, meaning DeDigi will cost them a lot of materials.

@@xero1048 It's not helped by Xros Heart's general inability to recycle their DigiXros materials if Material Save is somehow bypassed- they only really have Mervamon and Shoutmon X7 Superior Mode as options. To that end, Xros Heart gravely fears any and all forms of removal outside of deletion, whereas for Blue Flare it's just an inconvenience.

No, its always been like this. A Lv.3 cannot be De-Digivolved, but Lv.4s or higher can be De-Digivolved down into a Lv.2 if the evolution cards between have been removed

Actually they just VERY recently updated the rules for that. Losing by deck out is now only possible if you cannot draw for the start of your turn. Any other effects (searching, trashing, even drawing for evo or card effects) will not kill you. Which is a crazy good shadow buff for decks that either like drawing or trashing a lot. EDIT: I've been told that this is not a recent change, and that it's been this way for a while, which is surprising.

Yep not a recent change, its been this way since the start of the game. You only lose by deckout when you are unable to draw during the Draw Phase

Yes you can. DD only says to stop when it becomes a Lv.3 Digimon

The rule is that you cannot DeDigivolve a level 3 Digimon, period, so Dedigis stop at level 3. However, if you are Dedigi'd from a higher level down to level 2 (for instance, if the level 3 card in the sources was removed), that works and deletes the Digimon, effectively.
