1:50 I so knew that was not going to work - eejit! But great demo guys, I was on the fence about buying one from Screwfix, so now I'm definitely going to. You also have demonstrated that as long as you're very careful and wear goggles etc - leave the cage off, so the split sections don't jam into it.

My uncle still uses this and swears by it , apparently the cage is more dangerous than anything else, but be careful

I've a similar machine but a tad faster made by Sealy and it's given me great service over the last five years. I got it in either Newry or Derry, can't remember which, for about £230 including delivery to the Sunny Southeast. Make sure nobody stands anywhere near the front, some tough logs will hold on till the last and then burst through and fly out at an angle of about 45degrees. Logs will split a lot easier if you put the end with the knots in it closest to the splitting blade. When logs jam up on splitting blade I let the ram back fully and use a short straight log to push the jammed one through. Enjoying your videos, keep 'em coming.👍👍

Thanks buddy, I've seen the sealey ones, they do look similar. Glad it's served you well

I had this model for Christmas last year, I’ve altered it so I can operate it with my foot, done away with the cage and that lets you split some really big rings. It is supposed to be a safety feature with the two hand operation but I find it much safer holding the log with two hands. Be careful with dry logs ,,,, they explode 😂

Used properly, this seems like a safe tool that could really help people who don't practice "Hai-Ya." No judgement on anyone who uses a machine splitter, but it would be bummer days if I ever had to put down my Husqvarna S2800 for good. Love that axe so much, I chop/stack other people´s wood for free. 😅

The" hai-ya " is some level 5 log splitting! Great work. I agree , love the axe but if I was unfit to do it this an option

Thats a nice unit, I may have to get something like that one of these days for wood that has pin knots. I split alot of red fir, it can get tiresome.

Why's Uncle John put a rabbit cage over the top?😂 That makes it really awkward to use.

Nah. We are MEN! godammit....No sissy splitters.. A stand....a tyre..a maul... and plenty of pig iron gets the job done 10x faster. And you get a workout, an appetite, and you sleep better.

Modifications needed, first remove that cage! And then bolt it to a table or cart that has some weight to it. While I am not one to bash equipment I haven’t tested my self, I can at least state that this machine would be “somewhat safer to use in an enclosed environment like you garage / shed or if needed your kitchen! The downside that I see is it looks a bit slower then my county line splitter, but now you are comparing apples and pears!

Indeed, a very different machine

I know I like splitting by hand, but that looks an interesting bit of kit for £250, I'm sure the cage comes off easily enough.....and it is two-hand operation. I'm tempted
