Stihl blade have 20mm hole and fit only on fs 260-561 . For smaler model you need to make biger hole(25.4) or buy oregon. I make biger middle hole and use it on fs 235 240 and smaler.

I've worn out several Oregon blades on my Echo with no issues. I know what you mean but about going off balance after hitting something but it's never caused any issues. I've smashed large flints and all sorts but just keep sharpening them until theres only a 1/4 inch left then call it quits👌

@@bumpkinrocks it would of been nice to see if the stihl shredder blade was as good as this one…. If I can get the parts to make it fit then il try it.

The stihl has 2 fittings for there machines. You should really look at the package of the blade if it is for you're machine. Think homeowner has 25mm hole and the commercial grade has 20mm. I have a fs411 and I have to juse the extra adapter ring that whas at the oregon.

@@pietjeekes it’s a shame still don’t make the shredder blade to fit all models or provide a fitting kit…. Oregon do… that’s why everyone is using Oregon blades!!!!
@pietjeekes3 ай бұрын
@@Treeboyltd i also buy the one from oregon. because i had an other machine that had the bigger diameter hole. but the 411 has the smaller hole and oregon gives the adapter ring at the blades. The way oregon makes there blades it is more on bussines point of view. all machines can fit them thanks to adapter ring.

@@Treeboyltdquite the opposite Stihl's range of strimmers and entry level brush cutters have a 25mm arbor (your machine) these aren't suitable for shredder or clearing saws blades ! Their range of clearing saws and Heavy duty brushcutters fs361 - fs561 have a 20mm Arbor suitable for the Stihl shredder and saw blades ! It's an intentional design to prevent injury from mechanical failure as the smaller machines drive shafts, gearboxes, guards etc aren't upto the weight and intense forces that come with shredding and saw work. The diagram with that blade details the correct assortment of washers and specific shredder guard required for using that blade in combination with their fs361 through fs561. As well as preventing damage from incorrect use of the machine with incompatible accessories

@@theautisticarborist6846 the fs 91 comes with a steel blade when you buy it….. so how is it not suitable for one?
@theautisticarborist68463 ай бұрын
@@Treeboyltdthe reason your Oregon shredder blade fits is because it's a one4all blade with a 25mm arbor to suit husky, echo, efco, oleomac, jonsered etc whom haven't adopted Stihl's system to prevent incorrect cutting attachment use. With an included aluminium spacer ring to reduce to 20mm for Stihl (poor material choice making it dangerous) on Stihl machines as the Ali spacer disintegrates with the high load from a shredder knife causing the blade to come loose in use. As mentioned using that size machine with a shredder knife is dangerous as the machine isn't designed for it and you cannot get the heavy duty shredder guards to suit. Which if using at work could cause a nightmare in the event of an accident !! As it's not an approved combination and therefore isn't fit for use under PUWER1998. Go treat yourself to a 545 / 555rxt or fs 461, 491, 561. With the appropriate cutting attachments !

@@Treeboyltd a flat steel 2 or 3 tooth grass knife ? most likely between 225mm & 250mm in diameter & 1.5 - 2mm thick compared to a 300 or 350mm diameter 4 / 5mm thick shredder knife, It's Much lighter, only designed for cutting grass so less prone to grabbing / kickback. And isn't downturned so is much less likely to throw material as hard, far or upwards ! A shredder blade is between 50 to 75mm larger diameter, far heavier, downturned ends and used in a much heavier environment. Which the smaller (24 - though 26mm) drive tube, shaft, bushings, gearbox, mounting fixtures and guard aren't upto ! When compared to 28 - 38mm tube, gearbox and guards of the F 361 - 561 & husky 545 - 555. It's that simple. You wouldn't put 12" timber through your forestmaster and you would carry a bandit 12xp through a house. It's not a money grab, it's a safety system thats trying to prevent Ill informed operators using incorrect cutting attachments on inferior machines. A strimmer / brushcutter is a completely different machine to a clearing saw, they are heavier built, different bevel gearbox angle, rev higher for saw blade / shredder work, flat handle bars, have av and and anti kickback features designed for the higher loads, suitable guards etc etc
