Fun Fact: In the scene with Madea and the chainsaw, that was Tyler Perry’s actual house they ripped up. After the movie came out, Tyler had to come out and say that he’d never film another movie at his house because of all the damage. You missed the "wire hanger" reference. There's an old movie called "Mommy Dearest". The mom finds a wire hanger in her daughter's closet, freaks out, and beats her daughter with it. I've re-enacted that scene so many times, because although it's not meant to be funny.... it is...

I don’t think she was too hard on Orlando but she was still rebuilding herself and he had made some unintentionally rude comments and came on too strong. She’s getting out of an 18 year marriage and who knows how long they were together prior to that. She needed to get to know herself as a single adult.

@robertlauncher11 ай бұрын
So big difference between this and the play. She gets back with Charles at the end of the play. But this leads to another huge difference, the love story between Helen and Orlando is miles better in the movie. In the play, he comes across as a little too cocky and chipper talking to someone who just went through an awful divorce. I never saw his love for her as genuine in the stage version, it felt like someone swooping in as soon as he sees a woman is single. The movie does a much better job with the passage of time and making Orlando seem sincere, understanding, and loving. And the final difference relating to Charles and Helen in the play, he leaves. He doesn’t throw her out. Tyler Perry cites that as the biggest reason the ending was changed, because audiences wouldn’t be quite over what he did to her in the movie. But I’d argue Orlando being a more likeable character also justifies this ending more.
