Kimberly being forced to keep her rapist child by her mother and then having to look at him at every family function I can understand why she treated her mother harshly. Also it makes a lot of sense why she never wants to be touched by her husband
@hali_558 ай бұрын
yup! her resentment towards her mother is understandable, the whole thing was just covered up like it was something shameful on her part even though she was assaulted. even the way tammy spoke to her about “getting pregnant at 13” and “you disgust me” as if she was a slut and not a victim. no wonder she couldn’t be around them.

@mysticizzm8 ай бұрын
I'm almost certain the dynamic between Kimberly and her Mom is inspired by Imitation Of Life. There's two versions of that movie, and they're both worth a watch. I personally like the original. Also during the church choir scene you can see the actress that plays Kimberly in the stage play version of this story (amongst other actors. Aunt Bam actually reprises her role here.) In the play Shirley has 5 children. Her oldest daughter is super co dependent with her mom, and devoted her life to caring for her, and praising jesus. She is completely written out of this movie, and her youngest is actually Kimberly's son instead of Byron but for the movie they merged the two characters.

As a child I felt that Kimberly was so mean, I still do think that, but now as an adult, I do think she had the right to be upset. I mean, she was r-worded by her uncle and gave birth at 12-13 years old, but you can't let your trauma define you of who you are and make you miserable. We all have our trauma and bad moments in life, not just to make us into the ppl we are today, but to help us to be stronger. I have never been through sexual trauma like the R-word, but for me, the worst of my trauma was when I was bullied in high school for being a nice person who minded my business. BC of that, I have little to no memories of high because I chose to block that part out of my life, and the memories I do have aren't good ones. I could've stayed in that darkness and let it consume me, but I chose to pull myself out of it. People can hurt you, but it's you who decides to move on from it, people can hurt you, but you can't let them break you, or the things they did break, you can rebuild and make them stronger than they were before.
@jennieifanis89178 ай бұрын
Agreed. I'd also like to add that the implications of the aftermath of Kimberly's r*** help me understand even more why she hated her family. I can't imagine a child would want to keep a baby from her abuser, but I'm sure her mother didn't believe in ab*rtion and wanted to raise the baby like a good Christian. If the uncle was the mom's brother, that adds on to the pain as well. Plus, with how some families are, it's possible they didn't do anything to punish the uncle because it would look bad on them. Assuming her sister knew of her assault, she was downright evil for tossing that in her face during an argument too. So Kimberly may have been a b*tch, but if you suffered abuse from a family member than resulted in a child you didn't want, that you constantly had to see until you moved out, with your only sibling looking down on you for "sleeping around"....Yeah, I'd be pissed off too.
@driathunderwolf6776 ай бұрын
Nah I only some what agree. Kim went through hell with no support, empathy, or care all while having to live next to her son while he was being raised as her brother. Her family never got her help nor did they have her uncle punished for what he did to her. She had every right to be angry, mean, and nasty to everyone in that family. The only ones who didn't deserve it was Kim's husband and Bow Wow. That's it.
@mysteryminigunbria27266 ай бұрын
@@driathunderwolf677 👏🏿🙌🏿👑😎Thank you finally someone said the most facts of the bigger pictures his ass should’ve been punished for the rest of his wasted life for what he left Kimberly and her family to deal with😡🤦🏿♀️

Do you even understand how much worse being graped by your family member is vs. just a few bullies picking on you in highschool? That's far worse and her family did nothing to help, then for Tammy's corny holier than thou act to do what she did over an argument, when she's just as mean, that's the worst.
@JustCallmeMJ3 ай бұрын
@@highlandave8507 you’re right, I’m not saying bullying is worse what I’m saying trauma from those situations can take tolls and turn you into those people,do not become or act as the people who hurt you bc in a way it will seem like they won bc they broke you and made you as miserable as they are
