Great review! I just don't get Diatone's thinking here. I thought the point of 3.5" was getting the most performance out of a sub-250 gram quad. Since 4" was just a bit too big, and 3" left a little bit of meat on the bone, we had 3.5". Maybe I'm way off here. That looks like a great quad, but wouldn't it be better at 4"? Like a little more prop, and a little beefier frame to support those motors?

i did build me one with Air Unit and 1606 motors, that's already overkill ... recipe for disaster :) .. but hey, that's why we buy them anyway .. :) but yeah the top plate is fefentlu "in danger" on a crash, at the Roma F5 the distance is pretty far to the next row so the top plate can bend up easy, but at the F35 its just 1ish cm, that's probably too close to absorb al the energy on impact.

Some of the fastest drones ever speed tested were the Diatone GTR349 and other very similar models. I think they were clocked at somewhere around 115 mph! They used 1408 motors and are 4 motor rockets! So, I think 1606 would be overkill. 😎🤘

@KOrnhOliO13 жыл бұрын
@@NickBurnsFPV yup, I still have my ER349 also. Companies need to continue to make those great drones as they are just as good today as they were the very first day they were released. F4 FC's are still common and supported fully, 1408 motors are still great, that Runcam Swift camera still gives a superb image, and the TBS VTX is still made. Just because a quad had been out a year or more doesn't make it bad. In fact, those are better than 3/4 of the brand new drones that are coming out today! Especially when I paid less for my "Rocket Ship 349" than they want for the overpriced brand new Emax whatever X @ a whopping $139.99 ! 😳 Maybe Diatone should just update those quads and, for example, make it an F7, changer the frame slightly, make the new VTX go up to 800mw, newer camera, etc. ( hard to change much because it was so good). New guys don't get to see those best of the best drones unless they go back in the archives. Then, even if they do, they've stopped making it! A shame. 😎🤘

@pirateradioFPV3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, when your motor is mismatched with the prop or the weight of the quad, the motor has the capability to stop the quad in the air very effectively. The UL5" class suffers of the same problem, the quad stops on a dime for sure but it also won't float over anything, making it really annoying to fly. But hey, if muppets say this is the way to go, then the manufacturers will listen to the muppets. I will, still, say that the quest to make everything to fly like a 5" based on charts is for the idiots. But what do I know. I just try these things instead of instantly recommending something based on a spreadsheet.
@NickBurnsFPV3 жыл бұрын
What is really interesting to me is it doesn't happen on each float over the house. I would think it would be consistent, but maybe is has to do with the prop speed when we kill the throttle. ??
@pirateradioFPV3 жыл бұрын
@@NickBurnsFPV Yeah, you can alleviate it a little by pushing the idle up but it will never feel "right" or the way we've used to it feeling like. They track like they're on rails which is why they're fun for racing style cruising but for freestyle cruising with a lot of punch outs, not so much. They just lack the fun factor of the traditional setups. I tried really hard to figure out what they'd be good for and only thing I could come up with are the cinestyle setups where you actually appreciate the control and don't need the float. But that field already has overcompetition as all the manufacturers want a piece of that "CINEMATIC FPV" cake :)
