Having players temporarily play NPC's to test out rules is a great idea. I'm going to steal that!

Admittedly circumstances conspired to make that one a particularly tricky door to open of course. But once open, by golly it stayed open, as I recall.
@Zara-Bari7 жыл бұрын
There was more than one door that took them awhile to getting around to opening it, and not all of them were really obviously holding back lava. Some of them were only holding back nightmares.

Around 30:00, I really love Kathleens creative story. Good thing I'm not GM, because I''d be saying "And that's another point of inspiration, ..." and would break my own game. Your (and Graham's) daughter is so blessed to have such great stories to hear, especially as you're able to produce them pretty much on demand. Wow.

in fairness regarding the no hang-gliding rules, i believe 3.5 had rules for 0-G combat (and a prestige class specialized for it) somewhere in its Planar Handbook, so give 5th edition time. the hang gliding is coming.

Wait Beej's cleric doesn't have any ranged? What cantrips did he take? I'm confused what he would have chosen that wouldn't include Sacred Flame/Toll the Dead (if they rolled these after Xanathar's Guide) at least.

Is it just me or doe this DM give out inspiration like candy? It just seems way too lenient to me.
@Zara-Bari7 жыл бұрын
Game play-wise, that may be true. But I really enjoy improv and storytelling, and he's basically just like "Tell me a story in exchange for inspiration," and I heartily approve of that. Then again, I'm biased, because the character/story aspect is absolutely my favorite part of these streams.
@ardinhelme6877 жыл бұрын
As I learned of D&D from Critical Role, and have only played in games that don't use the inspiration mechanic, I'm very happy to see it being used here. While I do agree asking "tell me a story for some inspiration" every time players don't have it may be a bit extreme, I'm definitely a fan of the free-form role-playing that comes from it.
@rosesawyer86717 жыл бұрын
So, Graham's explanation as to how Inspiration worked in the play test... that is still how it works in the game as is.
@kevinlemley59625 жыл бұрын
Incorrect. Inspiration from the PHB - "If you have inspiration, you can expend it when you make an attack roll, saving throw, or ability check. Spending your inspiration gives you advantage on that roll." And advantage is rolled simultaneously, so you can only gain it before the roll. If you've houseruled it to be able to be used after the roll, that's fine. Many people have. But don't confuse it for how the game actually works and then proceed to correct people about it.

No, there is not "touch ac" in 5th edition. There is only ac.
