This has become one of my favorite series y'all have done. Dale is a fantastic DM.

I've DMed off and on for years. Watching Dale, I'm taking notes because I think he combines a really solid grasp of the rules along with a fun game management style. If you've never DMed before, I can tell you it is difficult to pull off. Great job Dale. Also, MVP of this episode is SNAK.

I aspire to be a GM that's half as good as Dale is. I love how he makes chaotic and crazy magic items, he knows how to end things right at the good point. It's a lot of fun. I have much to learn.

What Beej needed at 21:00 was Guidance, hopefully he has it because it's an amazing spell. As a cantrip in practice you can ALWAYS have +1d4 to all any ability checks unless there's a reason for concentrating on some other spell.

I gotta say, this Bebo (or whoever put him up to this) is a bit brighter than many fantasy villains - taking out the leadership of the Semolo Plateau but also undermining their entire economic justification? That's more thorough than most.

This series has been amazing. Will we be finding out about the things that were described but not explored at the end of next week's session? Examples include the pod (though I'm pretty sure I know how that ends), what was behind the door with the golden liquid, and what the hell a skungler is.

I'm confused how you can know something creates a skungler if you don't know what a skungler is. I'd have thought in that situation, you'd just know you can make some sort of. . .thing.

They have a scroll that can target a dead body and turn it into an undead skungler. It says so right on the scroll.

Heads up to Beej, if you cast a spell with your bonus action, the only level of spell you can cast with your action on that turn is a cantrip. Referring to the turn you cast Spiritual Weapon and Cure Wounds.

This is the second enemy that's opened a fight with indiscriminate double fistfulls of damage dice and instant-KOs. I think Dale has a type. (No seriously, I think some of these monsters might be a bit overtuned - although, then again, that resulted in the incredibly tense giggle demon fight, so what do I know?)
@diserasta16 жыл бұрын
Death has little to no cost in DnD. In Chult, with Raise Dead not working, it's a bit hairier, but you still have Reincarnate, Resurrect and Wish. Admittedly even Reincarnate is some 500gp in material cost, but that's not super much even then. Alongside that, this is a short term campaign, so outright murdering a character isn't that bad. With a necromancer living nearby, it would be pretty easy to make them into an undead.
@TheLittleMako6 жыл бұрын
I eventually came to a similar conclusion after discussing this with a friend. If I were playing a DnD game where every second encounter opened up with one or two instant-KOs, I'd be kind of pissed. But this isn't a normal game, it's a short campaign being run as a show to entertain viewers. Dale already said he's willing to hand-wave certain mechanics to make things more exciting for us, and I can accept the OP-ness of certain monsters as being part of that philosophy.

If anyone is interested in the exact size of the 200-point diamond, WolframAlpha clocks it in at just under 1/6 the size of a regular M&M, which makes the whole 'eyes seeking magic seekers' a bit creepier, since the eyes are either comically oversized or uncannily small.

@Jandau856 жыл бұрын
Overall, Dale's DMing has been fantastic. However, I can't help but feel that starting two combat encounters in a row with what is basically unavoidable and often fatal damage is a shitty and cheap thing to do. Especially considering how well the whole ruins/cave encounter was designed a while back.
@idlemessiah6 жыл бұрын
Well the Giggle Demon was, well... a demon. And the spider didn't really get a lot of options. A frightened wild animal isn't exactly going to sit on it's most powerful attack, especially if that attack is a poison splash. The party isn't in any massive danger of death tbh. Sure raise dead isn't working but Bontan can become undead if he dies. Having an undead healer in the party is a real boon.

If we take things even further, there may be a way to get multiple Bontans. Granted, they might not be whole, but you can't have everything right? Just put the ones that are drooling while staring straight ahead into the corner over there.
