I’m running a vampire game in a few weeks after having only played D&D 5e for 5 years, and this is very helpful. The game seems to give the Storyteller a lot more creative Liberty with the results of checks which is both really cool and a little nerve wracking

I’m very late to the party, but thank you so much! After partaking in other systems as a player, it is very difficulty learning to be a storyteller in vampire! My players also are new to this system and you’ve made the dice make so much more sense. The rulebook is dense but manageable

@@SummonedStories it was great! We had at least two messy criticals which was really fun to work into the narrative and despite having only played dnd and coc before, the players seemed to pick up the multi-d10 system quite easily! They also killed two security guards for food but oh well, they hid the bodies at least? XD

This is cool, honestly barely anyone talks about how to play the D10 system, so i could not understand it properly. I think you should also explain what numbers does the cross, cross with two stars, the skull represent in the dice.

My gratitude is your today, this is so very helpful! I actually took notes! :D One question about the 'charisma performance' roll: Why did you roll 5 regular dice when your charisma stats were at 4? Did I miss something?

I dont think im understanding hunger dice. How do you know how many to add to the roll ? Does it depend on the hunger level?

So I am having an issue. I just got the 5e core. On page 206 it gives an example of mary with her pool of 4, hunger two. she rolled a 1 on both hunger dice, and a miss on the first normal dice and a 10 on the second one, two beastial failures, and a sucess. it says she cannot pass this check vs a 3, but she can though? if she rerolls the miss and gets a 10 then it would be a crit for four success vs the check of 3. is the example on page 206 wrong? two beastial failures and two 10's means she gets two successes. plus two more for the crit, the other examples make since but its like they forgot you get 4 for a crit instead of just two

Thank you for the video! My group use to do MET and I was huge into 2nd Ed/Revised, but the 'Rule of One' and the poorly written disciplinces and mechanics made a great concept game suffer... then Requiem came out and they threw the baby out with the bathwater and it killed White Wolf for us. I didn't even know V5 came out and have been looking into it before taking the plunge. Do you have comparison videos or is that before your time?

Question: What if the only successes are on hunger dice? (No Critical and no failures) Is that a normal success or is that a bloody or success? I have had this happen a couple times in my last game. I couldn't find anything specific in the book and in the video you always had at least 1 normal (black die) success in all of successful rolls. Any advice?

So I am interested in the actual dice mechanics. I think the odds(?) of getting X successes out of N dice is (x/N+1). But I am having a hard time with criticals. With 2 dice, you have a 1/100 chance, but how does this change with more dice? It should be more likely, but 3/1000 seems like worse odds...
@theapexsurvivor9538 Жыл бұрын
For crits you'd calculate the odds inversely (how likely you are not to get a crit). So to not get at least one 10 you have a: 9/10 (90%*10) with 1 dice or 1/10 to get one 10, 81/100 ((90%*100)-(90%*10)) with 2 or 19/100, 729/1,000 with 3 or 271/1,000, And so on. For two or more 10s, it's probably faster to just use something like omnicalculator as becomes very long and tedious very quickly...

how do disciplines come into dice rolls? The book says half your blood potency rounded down when using disciplines. So if I was blood potency 1 and I wanted to use an Potence ability, would I add 1 dice to a Strength + Brawl Dicepool regardless of my level in Potence? In LA by Night they are adding their discipline rating to their dice pool. would that be their over all rating or just the rating of the power they are using? If i had level 3 in Celerity and used a level 1 power, would i add a rating of 1 or 3 to my dice pool? one character wanted to jump around the room while shooting, for that he used Composure + Firearms + Potence (using soaring leap) Is having a: Attribute + skill + Discipline pool allowed? are there any pages in the book you recommend i re-read or double check

I’ve played many WOD games over the years and I’m looking to start a 5E Vampire game. One aspect that I’m struggling with is that two of my players who are black find parts of the mythos sorta glosses over vampire interactions with minority groups. It keeps things very superficial at best. I’m looking for suggestions to address this. I can see their position but don’t think it was anything intrinsic to the developers. I actually feel that it was purposely done so as not to insult. I’ve seen games where the creators tried and I was just insulting.

Wow this is significantly harder than second edition. It might be my brain fog but I did not get this... 😬
@SummonedStories2 ай бұрын
It's very similar, though Hunger is slightly more complicated than Blood Pools. This is also probably as thorough of an explanation you can get, but not the easiest to digest. I've actually be toying with the idea of making updated versions of some of these videos for that exact reason

This seems needlessly convoluted. It's never explained clearly, after having read the core rulebook and this being the second video I have watched. This game would benefit from some serious restructuring and simplifying. It is a barrier to play.
@SummonedStories2 ай бұрын
It's pretty simple compared to most TTRPGs. Some fans think this is already too simplified compared to previous editions. Though the complex nature of the hobby as a whole is definitely a barrier in general. If comparing it to a rule-lite game, I'm sure it can feel daunting. Especially if you're running the game. Like most games, you can pick this up easier by playing it than anything else. If you're like me, the game will be 90% roleplaying anyway.
