Every skills distribution in V5 (jack of all trades, balanced and specialist) is worth 120 exp, so if you don't like the way it is handled in the book, then you can give your players that amount of exp to spend on their skills

its to avoid players that just put 5s at start I guess, which you can get with the +1 anyway, I know players that just centered 5s in the particular skills they wanted and zero in the rest which started to get booring, those that love to optimize...we all know those kinda players.

Sounds more like talking to oneself or writing a story... One to one with GM and only one player works great, but playing all alone isn't exactly pen and paper roleplaying anymore since all the input comes from yourself and you don't tell a story together anymore... Well, there are those books where you jump have to make decisions and according to that jump to different, numbered parts of the book, but I don't think that would even work well with Vampire and its very atmospheric and personal approach.

@@valorin5762 To be fair after watching some of the Vampire the Masquerade chronicles on youtube it probably wouldn't be a bad system for writing a show or book to use RPG systems, especially if your trying to write within that setting/offshot setting and/or using an independent/unofficial scenario to use the systems of the setting to help avoid a lot of tropes and short falls authors run into. Biggest problem would be how good you are at compartmentalizing/avoiding metaing the story and would probably require having notes on who should know what. Mind you, you would lose some of the insight that just comes from playing with different people and hence different thought patterns. . If your somebody with an interest in creative writing or just somebody with the potential to be an ST but lacking time or an adequate social circle it could be fun. Having to constrain your story to a set of rules would also help avoid some of the problems big budget media has with letting characters be Mary Sues and letting characters that agree with your personal politics/beliefs have an unfair advantage in the world to make them look cool.

The games Night Road and Out for Blood are basically solo V5 campaigns in the form of interactive novels.

As a huge plus (at least for me) is that the books are filled with _awesome_ pictures and art. Currently starting a V5 campaign, we've had just one session so far, where we outlined our characters and how the know each other. I'm very excited about this game. I'm playing a Malkavian.

V5 for the win! I played a lot of World of Darkness in the 90s and early 2000s, also live, and as much as I am familiar with the previous set of rules, Vampire 5 really is much better for me. Great approach on storytelling, integrating the narrative approach into the rules with things like killing off "blood points" and substituting it for a Hunger system, which feels much better in my opinion, also because Hunger can make you do things you didn't intent to do because the beast is surfacing. In my opinion they made the best version of Vampire ever. Very much the storytelling game I ever wanted.

@@JankyDice96 1. Mortis is more important for Dark Ages anyway. You won't find it in the old rulebook either. 2. The essential clans are covered, if it's not, just create it yourself. The rules are flexible enough to make it pretty easy for you. 3. What's in the book is much more interesting than what's missing. 4. It's a roleplaying game. That's a canvas. You have to paint it yourself anyway!

Interesting -- I was only ever familiar with the old-school V:tM way of doing things, so it's pretty neat to see what's changed since those days. I like the idea of having specific ways you feed, which gives you automatic benefits and drawbacks. And cripes, Disciplines have changed -- I remember when it was like one specific power per level! I think I prefer "pick and choose what's best for your character," though. So if I ever decide to get more into the pen-and-paper side of things again, I'll be prepared! Thanks!

I would have given her 2 dots in Stamina, since I think most people can agree that dancing requires a lot of energy. More so if you're doing it multiple times a night as part of your job. The 1 dot attribute should have been her Intelligence, since you don't become a burlesque dancer by having a good education. :)

As much as I love V:tM, I'm sorry to say, those price points are just obscene when considering most clans were available in the core rulebook of earlier editions, and only if you needed to play a more "exquisite" type of clan/bloodline you would need a sourcebook. But a completely seperate sourcebook to be able to play just one clan at those price points, is obscene and to me just sounds outright like a greedy developer, which is unfortunate as they probably mean well.

One small correction, you don't have to take the haven merit in order to not be homeless and have to find a new place every morning. That's the result of taking the lack of haven flaw. If you take neither it's assumed that your normal living arrangements double as your haven, just without any vampire security or room for upgrades.

And even that is just from a Greek translation of the name. Some choose to directly transliterate the same as something closer to Asir. Which falls in line with other names like Aset, which people in the west might know as the goddess Isis; but that name was ruined by a terrorist organization so Aset is seeing a surge in usage in media.

While I'm a huge V20 fan I do admit that some aspects of V5 appeal to me a lot more, especially when it comes to character creation, I particularly like the feeding styles and the points distribution system when it comes to abilities. It's a shame the lore of V5 is so frustrating, otherwise I would enjoy it a heck of a lot more!

For referance, the elders are... so powerful that it's borderline cheating. Just to comprehend how powerful they are; Dracula is of the 5th generation. Allowing players to pick gen 9 and earlier is akin to letting them create a merry sue. The exception would be middle ages settings, where the most common generation at the time is the 6th and 7th. Oh and even though unrelated, as a hypothetical example of power scale: Alacard from Hellsing is about as powerful as a 4th generation Vampire. (Also Vampires that close to Cane share the same degree of spite for weakness or not considering them true vampires, towards later generations of vampires that Alacard has, which is very apt).

You pronounce Osiris in English as Oh-Sigh-Ris. Also you don't need a dot in Haven or a Dot in resources in order to have a home or have money. Having no dots in those things just means you have the bare minimum to get buy. If you actually do not want to have a Haven you have to take the Homeless flaw and if you want to be broke you have to take the Destitute flaw.

Watching this was really fun. Last time i looked Into a vampire book gen13 was the youngest mentioned. And 10 or 11 recommended for players XD. But i have two questions. First i read somewhere that my beloved gangrels left the camarilla. Is that true? And second you mentioned that auspex is critical to avoid for someone who comited diablerie? So it leaves a flaw easily recognized for any kindred with auspex? Which are quite a few if i remember correctly ( tremere, malk, toreador, surviving cappadocians XD )?

Nope, there's no limit in V5! You can have Dex 1 and Stealth 5 if you wish so.

I’ve never really role-played at all but I would imagine that doing a solo campaign is like “storytelling” in the sense that you make and play all the characters-maybe you can write a fiction story based on it. This is kinda like playing the Sims, only on pen and paper and with more rules

I had to make my own predatory style cause as a nosferatu farmer wouldnt fit a 10th gen vampire so i used alleycat as a start im calling it snatcher you get specialty in stealth (ambusher) or brawl (grappler) add a dot in obfuscate or potence lose 1 humanity gain 3 dots in allies clan members. You are loyal to your clan you wait in an ally way hidden or dressed as a homeless hiding you face you wait for some one to pass by as you snatch them and pull them down into the sewers where you share your victim with your clan members the person dies and theres no evidence left as the rats eat whats left over

I never heard of having to stick with a formula for filling in our skills and attributes. I also cant find that formula in the book. My friends and I are starting a game soon and we're all filling out our sheets, i was confused so decided to follow along with you and everyone else in my campaign has just filled in whatever dots they wanted (22 for attributes, 29 for skill) are there references or a link for those formulas?

Got a question: Feral Weapons (Lvl 2 Protean I think). Would they breach masquerade? Does the character change appearance sufficiently that a casual look reveals them to have 3 inch long talons and a face full of fangs (like a transformation in Buffy I guess)?
