It would have been amazing had Dick Cavett gotten Greta Garbo to actually be a guest on his show, but such was not to happen. Garbo did maintain a great beauty (even in her old years), and glad Dick Cavett verified this during the interview with Charlie Rose as so many people like to say otherwise. "The face was all there".

@@raptorfromthe6ix833probably not, I’ve never seen one. She did some while she was working as an actress but after that never. Not even public appearances. She was very elusive and private. She didn’t realize that made people more interested in her life.

@@andersvilmoskoves8173 those were not real interviews, she did not realize she was being recorded and did not consent to it. Very low for whoever did it.

Garbo would have never agreed, it would have been nice but she was never going to do it. She was too private and she hated been recognized and being in the public eye.

No, not everybody does. Financially, certainly she could have, but there were considerations far more important, especially people born at or near the beginning of the 20th century.

I have read everything I can about Garbo . She was no bore …. She was bright, artistic, a great beauty ! I think she was stunning ! She lived in NYC and Switzerland! She knew Aristotle Onassis and traveled on his boat The Christina ! She played tennis with Kate Hepburn . She collected Monet, Renoir , Picasso !! She was worth 52 million at her death! Great investor !

Hahahaha, I love that Cavett’s street clothes are so much more flashy than what he would wear for the show normally. Ascot and giant collars. I wondered why he was dressed so differently for the Hep interview.

@@michaelwertzy9808 He was underrated by the masses....lost out in ratings with Carson in a major way---was relegated from network tv to PBS, where he was far more successful, to a more esoteric audience.

love the 70s, the actors of that generation, the way dick ran his show, sitting down with them and talking about life, no scripted questions, stars can smoke, have a drink, feel relaxed and open up to just two people chatting.. today the shows are all forced, the stars are forced to appear for PR for the studios, promoting a film or tv show.. but dicks shows, the stars came on just to talk..
