the GOAT of comedy, Dick Van Dyke. No show today can touch this in comedy or talent, and there will never be a performer as great as DVD. He is one of a kind.

The episode when Rob was unknowingly hypnotized & became roaring drunk every time a bell rang is a classic & comedy at its absolute best!!!!

How about the episode where Rob is doing a radio show and he has to stay awake for a long time and has to report a kitten getting stuck up in a tree and he gets very emotional about it and starts crying. 😂❤👍

Thank you. I recorded it on my VCR in 1994 from a TV special called "The Dick Van Dyke Show Remembered." Nothing on any of my old VHS tapes has anything close to this quality. Must have been kismet!

This piece of music was what Rob & Laura tapped danced to wearing leg irons in the Alan Brady Show Goes To Prison episode. I believe it is a creative orchestration version of "Sweet Sue.". That's what it sounds like to me. Not surprising, as DVD was filmed at Desilu Studios, & Sweet Sue was played often in I Love Lucy episodes. The two best comedies ever in TV history!

Watching this show in reruns in the late sixties on CBS in the mornings was a treat! It made me want to be a comedy writer, and when I did become one, I wore the houndstooth jacket and skinny tie at meetings as an homage to Rob Petrie. This is an awesome montage! Here's my question-What music is that in the background? It just makes you wanna get up and dance around the living room with 'em!

Mary Tyler Moore said she was only allowed to wear pants in one scene per episode, so she tried to choose the scenes where there was a lot of physical stuff to do. It was harder to do the physical stuff when wearing a dress or skirt.

Lol I know!! And I love how she goes right from that to checking on Rob's face like she's just "got this"! 😄😆 That same episode is where Rob does the somersault and smashes the dishes with his feet. I'm not too big on physical comedy but that killed me 🤣🤣🤣

To those who identified the music as Sweet Sue-- yes, that's it! Anyone have any idea who the artist is, though? Every version I've listened to, isn't this one. TIA!🙂
@STAFFORDIN3 жыл бұрын
This the listing on IMDb for that episode: "Sweet Sue, Just You (uncredited) Composed by Victor Young and lyrics by Will J. Harris Instrumental arrangement." The orchestra playing the tune sounds very much like all of the music used on the DVD show.

It is a version of the song "Sweet Sue." It was the music used in the episode "The Alan Brady Show Goes to Jail." Rob and Laura danced to it with manacles and a chain attached to their ankles.

It's called "The Third One from the Left." A young dancer on the Alan Brady Show has a crush on Rob and her boyfriend shows up in the office to send Rob a message.
