RIP Major Winters. He is well known in Germany till today. He and many other soldiers didnt only fight for their country but furthermore they fought against the Nazi Regime for a free and liberal Germany as well. As a citizen of Germany i wanna thank those who made this possible. It is the first time in German history without a war in Europe or any tensions with other surrounded nations. It is a great time in history and i am thankful for that.

In Afghanistan, a Company of the 101st was doing rapid reaction missions. As they flew out to a hot site, a Taliban radio mesage was intercepted. It stated very simply, "Don't fight these guys. They have Eagles on their sleaves." I like to believe that the older 101st vets would be proud of that. Respect to all veterans of all wars...

My dad I lost this year, in 2012. He was an immigrant, but became a citizen immediately upon coming to our shores. He taught me to value my freedom and liberty bought at the price of men and women like Dick Winters. I know they fought for each other, primarily, but surely they knew that their efforts would secure for the world a bit more human dignity, no? "Gracias", Dick Winters on behalf of my late father and his son--now a father as well. You helped make the world better for my daughter.

I have studied World War ll for 48 years , The history, the major battles ,and the principal leaders who fought and won it, . As with most students of this epic era , I have developed an appreciation for their courage, leadership, and loyalty to duty. Major Dick Winters epitomizes the BEST, as a man, a soldier, a humanitarian,a leader, AND to a grateful nation , an ETERNAL HERO. God bless his memory, family and friends.

These men were cut from a different cloth, and reading about the men who fought in the battle of the budge always makes me so damn proud to be an American. These men were the beacon of hope for the world at one point in time, and they never even knew it because they were humble beings. Major Richard Winters is and will forever be remembered as the perfect personification of the "American Citizen Soldier". There was no doubt in the mind of Adolph Hitler that his professional army would crush any opposition sent against his German war machine. From Operation Overlord, the invasion of Normandy, France, to the Eagles Nest at Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps, the men of Easy Company followed Dick Winters with the confidence and loyalty born of his unwavering love and respect for the men under his command. At Bastogne, Belgium, the 506th PIR, 101st Airborne Division; ordinary men performing extraordinary feats under impossible circumstances.

A few years ago my pals father who was a tank commander in Pattons 3Rd Army told me of his story , his recollection & details were a USA WW2 historians dream for an interview & for details long lost in history .. My pal SGT G was willing to give info for Valor studios to use for artwork & Valor was showed interest in his help ,sadly Sgt G passed away & met his brothers in arms again before he could give his spot on details of Patton's armored warfare of WW2 .

God Bless him and those who fought to free the world from what it would have been otherwise. Those of you who are here recently from other countries, consider going back to change your own to what it should be. The entire band of brothers were really those who fought, suffered, and so many died or lived maimed for life for what WE believe in.

Its odd to think that for us, its a picture and a thought of what we've seen from movies/shows etc, but for Major Winters its a part of his history, while we see it from a 3rd person point of view, he has memories of it there, what it was like, how it felt. I find it amazing how people like Major Winters, those in the past and those now, can go to war, do what they do for their countries and see what they see, and come home and live normally, it astounds me (In a good way, don't see this as negative, and yes I'm aware theres no actual definition for 'normal' living)
