I first purchased this edition when my family was very young and played it every Christmas time as we decorated the tree or just sat in the glow of the tree lights. I think it is the best ever Christmas Carol and Basil Rathbone is the best Scrooge ever. Anyway i am highly prejudiced in my my opinion but I have heard no better rendition. Thank you for posting the original version, rather than the later release, which had an unnecessary and downright distracting overlay of reverb.

I grew up in the late '60s with the same record, clicks, scratches and all. Recently purchased it on Amazon as a pristine CD. Interestingly, i received an antique 78 (?) RPM version album-set including several discs - attempted to play it with the turntable adj strobe.. ughh . The multi disc version sounds identical but it must be edited in parts. It has liner notes of the "Hollywood Cast" which may offer some detail on the Microgroove album reviewed here. I think this '50s LP/CD issuance is edited off of the original '40s 3 laquer disc work. Side #2 (LP) are Christmas Carols with the Lynn Murray Singers (never listened to this side LOL). Rathbone did many renditions, films, recordings of this Dickens Classic too. The actual Book/Short Story was written to raise some $$ back in the day as he was a professional writer. Enjoy!
