My first concert was Allman Brothers on lawn of Miami Beach Jackie Gleason Auditorium August 1970. Allman Brothers opened for a band called Fantasy. Dickey and Duane together were like Zeus and Apollo, guitar gods. Rest in Blue Sky, Dickey.

I saw Dickey Betts and Great Southern in 1977 at Kirkwood Meadows in California along with Charlie Daniels and Commander Cody. I think it was a great concert,I got pretty wasted. After all it was the 70’s

I was born in 1959. My father turned me on to this band as my mom and dance around our playing them, Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin and so many other greats. I really feel both lucky and privileged to have grown up with these bands. Today's youth is Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, Cardi B and its just so sad!

Chris Verich- I agree 100%. Born in 1958. I listen 98% still to music of 60-70s. Nothing compares to our era PERIOD. So much raw talent. no auto tu n e lip synch . Loop recording. Etc. We were so blessed weren't we ? I wasn't a huge Allman bros fan, but I knew Dickie Betts was sure top of the talent group. I'd put Terry Kath up there with him (rip) Chicago band guitarist
