Yes it is I got this situation once when I made some checking on a OBD II device I plugged into the obd socket its kinda weird when I scan for faults my remote did not response... then tried to look for KZbin instructions and got this instructions from Dick Hannah... Thanks Dick its a big help its so simple as ABC, I was able to activate my remote again as in a tutorial open book for everyone.

Great demo! For Australian model Subaru's with the fob, you still cannot lock the key inside the car after you have disabled the proximity sensor by just closing the door after manually locking it from the inside. Attempting to do so will still unlock the door again as soon as you close the door, but this is not fob detection - this is standard mechanical door behaviour in Australia going back decades to prevent you locking your keys in accidentally. To lock the key in the car after enabling your PIN, you must manually flip the lock inside, then close the door whilst holding the door handle out in the open position, THEN the car will keep the door locked. Additionally, if you don't want to disable the proximity function outright, but still want to lock your key in the car, just put the fob to sleep by holding down the lock button on the fob and then tap the unlock button (Subaru logo) once and let go of all buttons. The red light on the fob will flash four times to indicate that it has gone to sleep (proximity and car start functions won't work now). You can then lock it in the car without disabling proximity mode outright (but obviously remember to set your PIN first!!). Wake the fob up by pressing any button again. Note that the fob enters a sleep state anyway if it hasn't been used to unlock your car for more than two weeks (try proximity unlocking your car using your spare key without pressing any buttons on it - it won't unlock - then press a button on the fob to wake it up, and try unlocking again to see for yourself).

Appreciated that! This is the only way that works on my Forester SK Thai model. It's also easier to put the fob to sleep state than disabling the proximity function which requires manually lock the driver side door.

I have a 2023 Subaru forester limited edition. The chimes suddenly stopped working when the vehicle begins to move from a parked position at around 12 mph the automatic doors lock and there was a chime. I took the vehicle to the Subaru dealer service department where I bought it and they said that there are no chimes on any 2023 Forester, Do you have any videos or documentation you can point me to to prove to the service department that the chimes do exist?

Just got a great 2021 Forester. I attempted to set the pin code access on the gate before seeing this video and really managed to screw things up. I now can only get through the initial step of hold the lock button on the fob and the trunk lock button. It chirps but when I hold down thefob’s Subaru (unlock) button nothing happens. I called the local dealer and they said I’d have to bring it in to be reset. Is this true? I hope not!

Where do you get the pin code?
@Fun4GA3 жыл бұрын
Bakers choice. Thats why you need to repeat it, to confirm it has the correct number that you made up.
@katylowe35042 жыл бұрын
You make it up. They have rules, like no 22222 or 12121, etc. I assume no zero because there is no way to press zero times. Saw that info in manual (available to see online and save to files on iPad).
@fredrice25926 жыл бұрын
Can you use the number “0” in the code?
@HyRax_Aus5 жыл бұрын
The closest you get to zero is 1. You have to press the button to initiate data entry, so there is no way to type zero unless the entry sequence started with zero to begin with, and that will confuse everyone except programmers.

This would have been a good opportunity to show how to start the car with the proxy sensor disabled and/or when the fobs battery is dead.
@Laborchet3 жыл бұрын
Is that possible to do? I was thinking the same. Once the key proximity is disabled, is it even possible to start the car until you re-enable the key? For models with push button start, how could you start otherwise? Without the proximity key you’re stuck, no?
@717dash_cam3 жыл бұрын
@@Laborchet It is possible, and would not be stuck. With the Proxy Key disabled, the fob itself still has an RFID function. You get in the car, put your foot on the brake, hold the key up to the start button, the car will ding once, and you push the start button and can go. You still need the key to do it, but say if the battery in the fob dies or you're an avid outdoors person and don't want to go through the steps of enabling and disabling it to make a short trip where you'd disable and enable it again, the RFID tag is how you would be able to start the car.
@Laborchet3 жыл бұрын
@@717dash_cam gotcha! You’re correct! I just went and tried it out, with the key disabled, you can still use the buttons to unlock the car and once inside, the car started as normal when holding the clutch down and key up against the button.
@mige85808 жыл бұрын

Useful for those who are in areas rife with radio extender thieves. If you disable proximity unlocking on your car, then this method of stealing cars doesn't work. It removes a degree of convenience of course, but at least your car can't be stolen without getting physical hold of the key.
