⚡ 💀 💕 / 🗃 🍬 'Awadama Fever' and 'YAVA!' are pretty much peak Yuimetal. Moa may be "Best Metal", and Su is the voice they built the whole project around, but Yui is quintessentially kawaii. Still miss that one. Although they've done 'YAVA!' since, 'Awadama Fever' hasn't been performed since she left the group. The dance moves makes a little more sense when you know that "Awadama Fever" means "Bubble Fever". And although Takayoshi Ohmura remains my favorite Kami Band member, I'm always glad to see the love and respect for Mikio Fujioka.
@Grington3003 жыл бұрын
Great reaction. I'm late again and there are loads of comments already, so you've probably already been told this, but sod it I'm going to say it too. After 'Gimme Chocolate' and some of their other songs critics had accused them of making "Bubblegum pop-metal with squeaky high voices." It was an insult - the definition of Bubblegum music (also called bubblegum pop) is "pop music with an upbeat sound that is considered to be disposable, contrived, or marketed for children and adolescents". This song, I believe, was a direct response to that - awadama means bubble or bubblegum, so 'Awadama Fever' is about bubblegum, but it isn't just any old bubblegum - this has special properties and can transport you to wherever you dream of going - it is a "mint flavoured time machine". They took the criticism and everything the critics said they didn't like and turned it all up to 11. It is like they are telling the critics "say what you like, we will do whatever we want and if you want to come with us and see how far the dream can go step aboard the time machine and chew on this bubblegum". It is the most polite 'middle finger' in the history of middle fingers.

Love this! This was probably one of my favorites among your reactions! How Eric started with a "Hmm?" reaction and then moshed hard in that little breakdown-ish (dunno the right term, sorry) part with heavy guitars was really satisfying to see! If Gimme Chocolate is about chocolate, and PA PA YA is about papaya salad, then Awadama Fever is about a bubble gum. But not just an ordinary bubble gum. It's a mint-flavored time machine that takes you to wherever you want as you chew it. It was also hilarious as there are some haters who says babymetal is just bubblegum music and then they created a song about a bubblegum😂. Could it be that its their way of provoking them?😆 I also wholeheartedly agree with Alan's comment about Mikio's solo. He always have that iconic guitar sound as he shreds with his whammy bar. You would know right away that it was him playing. The way he masterfully mix jazz with metal is just AMAZING. It's really sad that someone as talented as him has to leave early. Ohmura, in the other hand, was also a very talented man. There is a video with him having a 'shred battle' with Marty Friedman, Herman Li and I forgot the name of the other man. His own unique picking style was really fast that also makes his style easily recognized. His speed is amazing. BOH is a f*ckin' GOD! His bass shred always fascinates me as well as his SLAPP. I just kinda wish his bass volume was a bit higher so we could hear his bass more (or maybe it's just because of my sh*tty earphones😂). Hideki is a beast! His double kicks are always amazing. He always has those fast af double kicks in his solo which makes his drumming way heavier. I just recently joined your discord server and I loved it. I love to see everyone getting along talking about music. Kitsunes up!

Top 10 BM track for me. The studio version brings out the drum 'n' bass elements much more. The intro section looked like it was taken from a women only audience show they did. They also did a children and grandparents show, IIRC. I like the idea, as not everyone wants to be in a pit with a bunch of sweaty old men. Even with the best of intent, the average metal crowd can be a bit rough and exclude people who don't want that level of physical contact.

Props to Alan for considering this to be one of his favorite BM songs now, as this is quite an underrated one. A little fun fact about how they came up with the lyrics: Awadama Fever means something like "bubble fever". When BABYMETAL went viral after releasing Gimme Chocolate, many metal elitists felt like this group was a kick in the guts and they used to make fun of them by saying stuff like "Metal is supposed to be about deep, aggressive and dark feelings instead of having little girls singing about rainbows and bubblegum". The response? They release a song about time traveling in a bubblegum time-machine 🤣 What a move, I think of it as a "fuck you" to the haters and I'm loving it 🙆🏻♀️ I also think this is one of their cutest choreographies to this day, tied up with "Catch Me If You Can" (if you haven't reacted to it, I highly recommend you do)

In my opinion, Mikio was the god of technique, Ohmura is the god of shredding. I think the combination of their individual styles and strenghts are one of the biggest reasons why they were so great as a duo. Herman Li said in a stream of his (I think it's even in his BxMxC rection on the Dragonforce YT channel) that he thinks Ohmura is one of the fastest guitar players and best shredders in the world at the moment. It's, again in my opinion, a real shame the Kami Band musicians don't get recognized by BABYMETAL. Which is unfortunately the same for the Avengers. They should at least officially recognize Momoko by now, she's the only Avenger at the moment and performed every show since the pandemic started.
@chrisharris15223 жыл бұрын
Yeah it is complicated, but the best way to think of it is a symbiotic relationship, Babymetal get a fantastic band that helps lend them legitimacy in the genre, the Kamis get a way to earn an income and to play on stages that wouldn't be otherwise available to them so they both get something out of it of value and they both have great respect for each other so it works. The mistake a lot of fans make that I have noticed is that they think Babymetal music is how good the Kamis really are when in actuality this music is way beneath the skills of these guys it is not a challenge to them in the slightest, the challenge comes from the transformation they go through from playing their amazing styles of music in small clubs where they are themselves to becoming the gods of metal and performing in front of huge crowds where they play a role different to themselves. The best answer is they choose to keep coming back, because they love it.
@ANDOR-3 жыл бұрын
@@chrisharris1522 Yeah, I know. I definitely understand and I don't want them to be "members of BABYMETAL" or be "the BABYMETAL band". I'm perfectly fine with the status quo when it comes to the Kamis, I'm just not a big fan of the fact they don't even have names/aren't recognized by BABYMETAL. And to be honest even less so when it comes to Momoko. She doesn't need to be a member of BABYMETAL and can stay with her Avenger status... but, for example, not even a message on their Twitter or anything today for her 18th birthday is pretty cheap if you ask me.

@@dicodec It doesn't even need to go that far. I'd be content if they'd be officially recognized by name or get a birthday message from the official Twitter and stuff like that. Awadama Fever is one of the most uplifting songs in their catalogue, and the choreography makes it perfect. For some reason I think Yui really stands out in this, it‘s like the choreography had been tailored specifically to her cuteness. The song can be seen as the successor to Gimme Chocolate. This time it‘s about bubblegum that will take you anywhere in your dreams. It‘s said to be BABYMETAL‘s reply to the people condescendingly accusing them of making bubblegum Pop. Personally, I like Ohmura‘s playing better than Mikio‘s. His technique is perfect, and he also has an ear for melody and great phrasing. But Mikio‘s solos certainly stand out with his interesting use of the trem and harmonics.

The Kami Band can play any genre of metal because they have everything in their arsenal and different from any metal band out there. The Kami Band compliments Babymetal wells. The Kami Band can choose to perform with anybody but choose Babymetal as they see something special in Babymetal girls. Industrial Metal from Babymetal Metal Resistance album. You need to understand Babymetal concept in order to fully appreciate them totally, from Babymetal girls to The Kami Band and the whole production team. Kitsune Up 🦊🦊🦊🤟

Alan is right Mikio is the master Ohmura is the student and he will tell you this himself, having said this Ohmura is better than 99.9% of guitarists out there just Mikio is another level. I really recommend listening to Kari Band to hear what he and Boh are really capable of Djentleman is a great track if you prefer heavier music to the more jazzy funk stuff

Great reaction, thanks! Mikio was actually Takayoshi's sensei. His amazing technique is clearly recognizable, specially on the solos. He will be forever missed. And both of you were right: it's "weird" and it's "awesome" at the same time... and we love BABYMETAL because of that :) Until next time!

Nemophila just put out Dissension, wow, a banger. Raitei and Fighter great songs. Loved when Midori of Lovebites was at NAMM in California janurary last year, before lockdowns. Well just found out its on YT. Midori with her hair down, in jeans t shirt, banging and shredding their songs for two hours was incredible. You guys might love that.
