The Duolingo English test is the newest English proficiency test available for English students to take in order to get an official English score. You usually need to take a test like the Duolingo English Test before you applying to a university or college in an English speaking country.
This new Duolingo English test is made specifically for those who need to get an official English score to study at a university or college. It’s similar to the IELTS and TOEFL; however, even though this test is quite new, it is accepted by a lot of universities around the world. You can go to their website to find out whether the university you want to attend to accepts the Duolingo English test or not.

Hi Luke, I am just curious about contractions, if I wrote "3" instead of "three", I'm /I am, She's / She has, I will/I'll... etc. Are those equival answers, especially with numbers? It's much easier to type "13" instead of thirteen for instance... Thanks for you time!

Hey Jask! Writing contractions is fine. But I wouldn't write the numbers like "13". I'm not 100% if it would affect the score, but I think it is risky to do. Good questions 👍
