13:00 I am a native speaker. For question 9 in level 2, both B and C are correct phrases that mean different things. B means that she played soccer in the past, and C means that she was more attuned to playing soccer in the past (with the implication that now, she's rusty and out of practice).
@lebagswag1286 ай бұрын
I would agree that C is a correct phrase, it’s just that B is the far more useful phrase and the only one of the two you’d actually see used

You could definitely see either used. For example, if someone was talking about how Bridget was getting back into soccer, but is a bit rusty now. You could say C. Technically you could use A in the right context, but I would hope that it would be a story about some kind of ball named Bridget. 😅

We use english so much that even if you don't know english that good you can easily answer option questions because of phonetic memory. But if we (non native speakers) were given a test that relied more on only what we know (without options that can make it easier) we'd not get a score that's as good on a test like this one for sure.

I'm a native speaker, and even I got some of these questions wrong. I've heard native English speakers say some of the wrong answers in real life. If you're at a level where you can say these phrases in a quick manner, even if it's not entirely grammatically correct, it will, most likely, still be understood. In my opinion, if you can communicate with someone, your speaking is good. Sorry that English is so confusing! If I wasn't a native speaker, I definitely would not want to have to learn English.

My mother tongue isn’t English but I grew up in Canada since I was a kid so English has become my “second mother tongue”. I got all correct. What inspires me is the explanation. As someone whose English is their mother tongue (or fluent like a native), we just know how to say it but never really understand why and how certain sentences comprehend. In Canada we don’t specifically learn grammar in school, everything kinda just comes naturally, as with all mother tongues. Also, to those who are English learners, idioms aren’t something we’d use everyday, so if you don’t get them all correct don’t be upset.
@unapatton19783 ай бұрын
I remember learning English with cassette tapes, and I constantly had to rewind because it was too fast. After having lived abroad I could barely listen to them again, because they were sooo slow. I am somewhat envious of people being able to learn and revise with videos like this.
I was an exchange student in the USA many years ago, as a non-native English student. We wrote a letter to our host family some weeks before we left home to introduce ourselves. I felt my grammar wasn't that bad while I wrote it. Around Christmas they found the letter again and showed it to me. Well, let me just say, it confirmed that my English had improved that fall.

Question 27: “to back up” also means “to support someone or something in an endeavor”. As in “If the debate goes south, I’ll step in and back you up”. In engineering a “back up“ system is a redundant and independent apparatus that kicks in control should the primary system fail.

Not mentioning Japanese or Arabic :D ). Literally the easiest of languages I've tried. Also, I would respectfully recommend to broaden your choice of literature. I didn't realize that I was s C1, after the pandemic i left my english classes as a beginner but i continued watching and listening to some content in english so i was really surprised that i got a C1 in English. This shows that by consuming daily content, even if it is an hour a day you can really learn a lot, you just have to be consistent!!

For question 7, C is also correct, albeit quite specific. Imagine a narrator saying: The Smith family live on Monopoly Street. Last week, their neighbors left the street for greener pastures. John and Jane, the new tenants, would have arrived on Wednesday if not for the storm. Therefore, the new neighbors moved in some other day. (probably more appropriate to say "The new neighbors moved in ON another day" in that case)

Upon contemplation of this assessment, it becomes conspicuously evident that the command of the English language stands as a quintessential emblem of intellectual acumen. Attaining a flawless score not only signifies aptitude but also bespeaks a profound comprehension of the intricate nuances inherent within linguistic structures. It stands as a testament to the assiduous refinement of one's cognitive faculties, encapsulating erudition in its purest form. Within this domain, one ascends beyond the banalities of ordinary discourse, positioned atop the zenith of linguistic proficiency. Yet, amidst this accolade, there lingers a faint whisper of desire, a subtle yearning for an even greater challenge, an acknowledgment that perhaps the test could have dared to delve deeper into the realms of complexity, further nurturing the appetite for linguistic exploration and mastery. Such an accomplishment not only accentuates individual eminence but also assumes the mantle of a guiding light, illuminating the trajectory for others to aspire toward linguistic excellence. But let's not forget the quirks of the English language that keep us on our toes-like the infamous "i before e except after c" rule, which seems to have more exceptions than adherents! Ah, English, the language where "ghoti" can be pronounced as "fish" if you twist your tongue just right. Truly, mastering English is like solving a puzzle where the pieces sometimes seem to have a mind of their own. Yet, for those brave enough to venture forth, the journey is as rewarding as it is amusing!🍒

The answer of question 3 in level 3 can also be option B depending on the meaning of the sentence i guess. Like after visiting Germany she had also travelled to more than 35 countries? On the other hand, option A says her country count will be more than 35 after her trip to Germany

Taking this test I am at C2 level (9/10) but taking exams from British teachers, I am at B2 level (8/10). British teachers ask questions about adjective and adverbial negative inversions, cleft sentences, subjunctive mood, antonyms, and a combination of all conditionals, very tough indeed! Thank you for encouraging me to keep on going with my English skills.
