There is an episode in "Shree Krishna Leela" by Ramananda Sagar where Arjun and Subhadra (Shree Krishna's sister) both meet the first time in a jungle when hunting a deer. Both think it's their sword that hit the deer. I was disturbed with the scene because I thought devine didn't hurt anyone/anything for a pleasure. Maam, could you please put some light into it?

Dharma varies with circumstances. Krishna and Rama were Kshatriyas - they belonged to a martial race and their duty was to not shirk from killing but to kill when they had to in order to protect their citizens, the innocent and the weak. In those days there were no institutions of democracy for resolving criminal activities such as the Supreme Court etc. The King was the protector of the people. So Rama killed Ravana. Krishna helped Arjuna kill the wicked Kauravas. Hunting was a way to keep these skills alive. Otherwise the King would be abandoning his duty as protector if he became overwhelmed with pity for animals. Hunting animals was therefore ok in ancient times, as it helped the Kshatriyas protect people. We cannot indulge in same actions today as times are very different. In reading history the time-spirit has to be kept into account. The time in which an action was done and the spirit in which it was done (in this case to keep alive the martial skills alive and protect the people). For this reason dharma of the past is NOT the dharma of the present. What may have been ok then need not be ok today. Also see this good article: www.thespiritualscientist.com/2013/11/why-did-arjuna-despite-being-a-pure-devotee-hunt-animals/

Hello, can we use sheepskin today which is only byproduct of the sheep that was raised for meat ? Because they are killed for meat and not the skin.. if we wont buy it, they will throw it away, is it okay?

Proof of our sages and God's consuming animal meat in jungles is their tough bodies which were very muscular. If on a fruit and vegetable diet one remains lean and thin. (lord Rama & his brother lakshman), Lord Shiva, Maha Kali, Durga Devi,and got are often sacraficed in worshiping the goddess and lord Shiva followers the Aghori sadhu's take Ganja and weed and eat meat & drink alcohol

I have a question. If the 'kundalini energy' gets conducted from your skin to the earth while you sit on the bare ground, why doesn't the skin of animals conduct that same energy while you seated on it?? Who measured it and via which instrument?
@Spiritualbee
@Spiritualbee 8 жыл бұрын
+Saurav Gautam Any non-metallic asana will do. As we know from physics metals conduct electrical impulses. The physical prana is this type of energy and so one needs an insulator to sit on to prevent it from being grounded. Animal skins were the easiest available materials to rishis at a time when cotton was still not discovered and deep in the jungles straw/grass mats and other materials may not have been available.
@RukdSG
@RukdSG 8 жыл бұрын
So consciousness is like an electrical impulse?? My suggestion:: if veda is so scientific why dont you publish some research papers and challange the scientific community. Why are you limited to non technical audience only? Lets perform experiments on vedas and verify it. Jyotish-bigyan is good on astrological calculations and rest all the vedas are just crap. They are simply literature.

How many years of meditation and vedas practice you have to claim something is CRAP? and if your answer is going to be 'I dont have to practice anything to judge it' then YOU ARE CRAP. :)

actually the reason for using the deer or tiger skin is because it repels insects and bugs from bothering you when you are meditating. this is the main reason why it is always showed images of yogi and lord shiv sitting on tiger skin etc....

Hello! I really liked your channel and explanations. I have an issue that you would like me to answer, if possible. I had a cat that became very old and sick and I took it to do euthanasia because I could not bear to see him suffer anymore. But now I feel remorse because maybe it was pure selfishness to have done it. So what could I do to apologize for this little animal I killed? thank you!

I respect your explanation, but unfortunately some other aspects don't add up. In epics like Mahabharat and Ramayan it is shown that hunting was an (unfortunately) accepted hobby. Lord Ram goes to hunt the deer on the behest of Sita Maa. Lord Shiva in most depictions of Him is seen wearing a leopard cloth and also Kali Maa and the Devi path promote the killing of buffaloes etc. I also don't know why horse riding is accepted, no way can a horse hold a human, that's why they tame them first. I think doing yoga and dedicating/devoting life and good actions to God is the only answer and also being a vegan. Pranaam

sanatanabhakti Horse sacrifice from Ram's father. Countless incidents of animal sacrifice in the Mahabharat. Countless incidences of hunting of animals from literature and epics of Hindu scriptures. Also horse riding is painful for the horse. Why is it o to kill buffalo? Arjun killed fish for Draupadi, Krishna was there he didn't stop it...
@yusufalef92
@yusufalef92 8 жыл бұрын
sanatanabhakti According to vedas? Vedas don't say anything about avtaar etc. They were just kings, Kali Maa, Durga, Sarasvati etc. are God not Ram and Krishna. Before the Bhagavad Gita Krishna told Arjun to pray to Maa and countless times even to Father Shiva. You are a very vindictive ISKCON follower, if you accepted that asuras are metaphorical that would be fine but you want to say they are real, that's where you dig yourself a hole. Also Ravan didn't kidnap Sita that story was made up because Ram who was a king murdered a Shiv Bhakht. Tamilians have the true religion. Pranam

Ancient Rishis did not kill. They were immersed in meditation and teaching the people about God. Now, Krishna and Rama although Avataras of God, were not Rishis but Kshatriyas Kings - they belonged to a martial race and their duty as king was to not shirk from killing but to kill when they had to in order to protect their citizens, the innocent and the weak. Dharma (duty, the right thing to do) in fact varies with circumstances. Blanket morality is not correct as it would cause one to do the wrong actions at the wrong time. For example if you are a soldier and you did not kill and stop a terrorist from blowing up a bus of children you would be abandoning your dharma, your duty. A soldier cannot afford to show empathy to a terrorist. In historical times there were no institutions of democracy for resolving criminal activities such as the Supreme Court etc. The King was the protector of the people. So Rama even though he was an Avatara, killed Ravana. Krishna similarly helped Arjuna kill the wicked Kauravas. Hunting was a way to keep these skills alive. Otherwise the King would be abandoning his duty as protector if he became overwhelmed with pity for animals. He would become timid, weak, and overly empathetic and not bear to kill the oppressor. For this reason dharma of the past is NOT necessarily the dharma of the present. What may have been ok then need not be ok today.
