It's so amazing that the Maharaja hired a Muslim craftsman or mason. This mason must be one of his loyal subjects. india is a land of with so much history that yet half of it is yet to be known to the world but the fact that the people of the land are only unaware of this is very disheartening. Thanks to this channel and the picture shot by him is wonderful the whole team did justice to it as a Indian I am very happy and proud to know this history

I just want to say that in most cases sati was not voluntary. Many woman were forced into doing it.
@NoRiceToEat2 жыл бұрын
There are very few cases of sati in India like 1 in a million cases compare that to the witch burning trails in America which was like 1 in thousand at that time.

you know invaders used to rape women , capture them and use as sex slave , they also sold them in markets , and many were tourchered too, and if they dont burn their body their dead body will be raped , and they cannot trust others to burn their body they servants can be bribed to preserve the body for invaders , now just imagine you are one of her subjects and some barbaric invader is raping your maharani's body (dead /alive) in the open infront of all the subject , also there were many traitors who would want to use maharani and their daughters to legitimise their rule so they cant aford that too , also most troops who were loyal to the royal family died fighting with maharaja but some of the traitors would be still present in the palace and no loyal troops to protect them they have no choice but to die a dignified death so their body is not at display ans some did out of emotion and love for her husband

Kings and queens were much more loyal for their people from today’s politicians. I have heard that when the maharaja of Marwar died nearly all the Marwaris living in the country shaved their heads. This was the respect in them for their kings.

@islandsunset3 жыл бұрын
It was. Wrong but it was complex. And some (maybe a lot) were forced and not doing it could mean social ostracization.

Exactly most of the time the widows were forced to perform Sati because it became a tradition by then.
@richardv96483 жыл бұрын
It is complicated. Before 2500 years Sati was a choice. From 1000AD to 1700 AD Sati was performed so that women don't end up in a Mughal or Nawabi Harem.

That final picture is just a drop in the ocean. If he ,Nicoals, would bring whole history in one picture, I believe that room isnt enough. Charity works - protecting people from outsiders, etc., this is what a Maharaja or Royal Family is doing in first place than enjoying pleasurous lifestyle.

Fascinating story. That palace has seen better days. It is literally stripped of area carpets furnishings etc. It’s also very dirty abs unrestored. It appears that they have lost a lot of money. The photo is montage in his style as he has done with the other families. It’s a bit dramatic to bring the cursed Sati story to life with symbols and a death plane model. It worked however as messy as it all was. Entropy seems to be a part of his staging of all these photo shoots.
