Did Battlefield 2042 Drop the Ball on Visuals and Atmosphere?

I played the BFs in reverse order starting with 2042, I was stunned at how amazing BFV looks / sounds / just all round is. Tank and Aerial gameplay are movie quality.

I guess one of the reasons that BF2042 looks more like a cartoon (Fortnite-ish) game is the general direction of the fps market. Fortnite was by far the most successful shooter in recent history and the more friendly and less realistic look made it more suitable for a wider audience. As we all know they designed BF2042 to be a good product and not a good game so they altered the style and gameplay to appeal to everyone instead of focusing on making a good game for the core Battlefield fanbase.

They did a amazing job on both games visually. I try and play 2042 but it’s just so bad on ps4 lol, but the other ones are great no comparison… it’s active on both games for ps4 in all times of night even it’s it’s a few games active at 2 am

Not only the visual but also the sound feels weaker and less chaotic than the previous two games

Best graphics belong to BF5 but it loses in gameplay to BF1 imo.

100% agree. Bf1 is a better game, but BF5 does feel like a later game

You can argue 2042 has a bit of a more classic fps feel to it, because of it more simplistic, but faster movement. You can also argue daylight is done better in BF1 and BFV, because both of them having a more smooth sunlight. But texture work and shaders are better in 2042. The visual effects are objectively better. 2042 has the best directional audio in the series, like it's not even a competition. It's also in fact a lot more similar to BF3 and BF4 than BF1 and BFV, but a new player will never even subconsciously have that connection. You are coming from a very biased perspective, like it or not. So am I btw Can't we move on please? I am sick of people seeing blue sky and green grass and then acting like this is cartoon or Fortnite, because your average BF player doesn't care that French Guiana does look like that. If you don't like the locations or the color palette, it's far easier to state as such without acting like all BF players care about are "atmosphere" and "immersion" in their multiplayer shooter. You are not the entire fanbase. I fell in love with BF3, because of jeep stuff, zooks and military sandbox (all 3 of which are very lacking parts of BF1 and BFV), not because BF3's blue filter made me feel like a real soldier

Certainly never said I was the entire fanbase! Just my opinion as a casual Battlefield player who is only just playing them again after years away. I appreciate you taking your time to comment :)

@@Charlie_EF Well, you still try to sell your opinion as a very "logical" one. I've watched your other videos and now I know you are a BF1 fan. Casual or not, you guys always rely on talking about the feel of the game, rather than any concrete part of it. Which is always subjective, but you people try to act like it isn't. In this case you used the theoretical "new player experience" Thank you for the video and I hope I didn't sound rude!

@thebigsam yeah nah I am open to everyones opinion! Mine is absolutely subjective! And hell, I still had some awesome games on 2042 recently. I mean, I like destiny 2 and that is NOT an opinion shared by many haha

Bf2042 is just not as good in visuals and sound design as BF1 and 5
